Well, she does a hell of an American accent!

So, this last week we'd DVR'd Hatfields & McCoys on the History channel (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1985443/), and I finally got around to watching it over the last couple days. Not bad, I was actually fairly impressed by Kevin Costner, sadly not so much with Bill Paxton, but what ( Read more... )

I believe they're replaying it this very second...you may be too late for about 1/2 of the first ep, but it had just started again when we got home from our childbirth class and turned on the History channel about an hour or so ago...

When Anse Hatfield got home and his wife greeted him, something niggled in the back of my mind - she looked so familiar, but I couldn't place her. (I should point out that I had missed the opening credits.) It wasn't until the episode was over and I looked it up on IMDB, and jaw met floor. She was completely transformed in that miniseries, accent and everything, and the only thing that really gave her away was her eyes. But really - do you expect someone from the North to put on that good of an American accent?

I will admit that, in the last episode when I was really starting to get annoyed over not being able to find Sarah Parish, there was a teeny part of me that looked at...Levicy? Was that her name? And was like "Hmmm...I GUESS if I squint and cover my ears, that could be her?" It was mostly the voice that threw me: the complete lack of accent, and even her pitch and tone seemed completely different.
