I has a sad

I will never, ever forget sitting on the monkey bars with about seven other 8-year-olds, screaming "Fight For Your Right to Party" at the top of our lungs, having crazy sex with my high school boyfriend to "She's Crafty", making my Hello My Name Is sticker at some boozey party in my 20's read "Hello Nasty." The Beastie Boys have been a constant ( Read more... )

This was the first rock star death that really got me. Even Davy Jones, who was a good part of my childhood didn't hit me as hard. We're around the same age, so yeah, the Beasties were just there for us. Their music is just fun. I teared up watching that video because the Beasties aren't supposed to make you sad! Their music is just joyful and, well, fun.

So many other artist's you could say, "It's sad but..." With MCA, you can't do that. He was just a good guy. And yes, he was sick for so long, but you never gave up hope, you know?

I know, right? I feel so cheesy, but I totally well up at the end every time when the whole audience screams along with "BEAS-TIE-BOYS!"

It's really got to me, too. What a bummer, man. At least all their music is fun and joyful - if it was depressing I wouldn't be able to listen to it.

I know, I always feel dumb getting all upset over a celebrity death when I've never even met the person, but this has really affected me. It's like...the death of a piece of my childhood, as silly as that may sound.

I have watched this Coldplay video many many times. I know it's cool to hate on Coldplay. Personally, I sort of love them. And I love them even more for doing this tribute. MCA was my favorite Beastie Boy. It makes me so sad that his light is gone from this world. I have been listening to a loop of Root Down & Sabotage back to back over and over again. Possibly one of the best two song combos on any album ever.

Hey, I like Coldplay fine, I make no apologies. :) And this was a lovely tribute...it was brought to my attention by Mr. gin 'cause I guess Simon Pegg tweeted it.

Oh man, I am kicking myself right now because I used to have this fantastic vinyl copy of "Root Down" that was blue and had, like, seven different remixes of the song. Probably worth a ton, and I traded it for fucking Lords of Acid just because I had a tremendous crush on the hot English boy who asked to trade. *facepalm*

I HOPE YOU'RE ENJOYING MY BEASTIE BOYS SINGLE, ZANE.

My gift to you, on this sad day: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1071482/Root%20Down.zip

It's not vinyl, but I'm pretty sure it's the music you lost. I own this on CD. Enjoy.
