Title: You Put One Foot in Front of the Other
Characters: Sun, Penny (Sun/Penny, Penny/Desmond)
Word Count: 3150
Rating: PG-13
A/N: I'd been writing this for my writing_rainbow claim, but tucked it away for the time being once the luau started. However Queen isis2015 requested Sun fic, so I decided to pull it out again and whip it into shape. I hope the queen enjoys. ♥

Holy damn. Wow. Poor Penny, having to loose Desmond again all because of some stupid island. Sun's right. All this crap has happened because Ben and Widmore are fighting over a freaking island. :/ God, I love Sun. She's so angry and numbed by grief.

This was fantastic. Thank you so much.

This was some terrific work. I really, really liked it.

The pairing is indeed strange but you made it work just perfectly. Your Penny is absolutely perfect, I could hear her on every single line. And God, the way she longed for Desmond at the beginning felt just so real. Let me say that I was kind of hoping that he was somewhere with Sayid though ;)

Sun -> wow. You really got her down here, it feels exactly as ff!Sun should/would feel at least according to yours truly. The dialogue between the two of them was spot on and Penny's reservation regarding her father felt very IC.

Sun asks her about the wedding: there is very little to tell. It was a quiet occasion, little fanfare. The happiest day of her life passed unnoticed by the wider world.Aawww. Now that made me teary. And that phone call? You are EVIL. Because firstly I am there all teary again because they are separated and I could hear/feel Desmond's desperation so well and then not only the first word he says is Sayid but you also get me Sayid in the background? Hell, I hate ( ... )

This was amazing! I was so excited when I saw you offered it up to Isis. You treated both characters with great dignity, whether it was Penny's longing and naivety or Sun's reserve and burden of knowledge. I thought it was interesting that Penny constantly felt guilty in Sun's presence. Sun did not resent everything Penny had, and not only because it was soon to be gone. Sun did all she could to remind Penny she was loved and lovely. To me this shows what a warm a person Sun is, even if she's become so cool and hard on the surface.

This is what I have to look forward to, Penny thinks. This is who I'm going to become.

This acknowledgement stabbed my heart, even more so than the pangs caused by Desmond and Penny's separation. Damn them and their tragic phone calls.

The story also made me think of poor discarded Nadia, not offered the opportunity to get by . This, among many things, makes Sayid the ideal parallel to Sun. They've both sacrificed their softness and their partners for this battle. I just hope Sun can come back to her ( ... )

Whoa, this was awesome. Hardcore Sun and Sayid working together, and I really ached for Penny and Desmond here. Even though they never shared more than a phone call, you made their longing for one another and the life they'd managed to build together so very palpable and intense. Fantastic job, all around.

Trust you to come up with something as awesome as this. And a totally unexpected pairing that only you could get to work. I like that this says so much about both of those characters.

This is wonderful!
