Alex gritted his teeth, his hands tightly grasped in his lap. “Ovechkin... My Ovie...,” a dark voice said, the russian smoothly flowing, “It’s been a long time. You avoided me last time.”
Alex shut his eyes, looking down, “I... You...”
The man pulled back, staring at the shaking Capital star. He laughed, “What do you possibly have to say to me? Apologies for years of doing wrong? Bad sex? Weakness?”
“Dmit...Dmitri.” Alex said, eyes still glued to his hands, “Go away.”
“Say it like you mean it.” Dmitri said, leaning forward so his lips were near Alex’s ear.
Alex shuddered and pulled back, repulsed. “Please...”
“I remember you saying please to me all the time.” Dmitri sighed, “Let’s be adults, Alex. You and Me? We are the same. You have a hotel room here, don’t you?”
“No.” Alex said, his face dark, but still not bringing his eyes up.
“So you’re not staying in Buffalo for the night?” Dmitri said, knowing it was untrue.
“No, I will not bring you to my room.” Alex said.
Dmitri sat down beside the forward and placed a hand on Alex’s thigh. Alex’s eyes flickered to the hand, fixated. Dmitri said quietly, “Don’t you remember? You want this. It is just one night, then you can return to your home.”
“No, I said no.” Alex whispered.
Dmitri began to squeeze Alex’s leg, gently stroking up and down his thigh. He moved closer and said, “I want to be with you Alex, when no one else does. You should be thankful.”
Alex looked up into Dmitri’s face, his eyes filled with tears. “I said no, Kalinin. I am wanted. I am needed.”
“It’s not real.” Dmitri said, his eyes flickering with a hint of anger and disbelief. “You love me. You need me.”
“You... you...” Alex stuttered, “You don’t know love.”
“Alex!” called a voice from across the room.
Alex looked up and nearly cried out in joy. Viktor was taking no time in crossing the room, his face dark. Alex turned to Dmitri. “You remember Viktor.”
Viktor walked over, sliding a hand across Alex’s shoulders. “You alright, Alex?”
Alex turned to Dmitri, eyes dark and angry, “I would like some better company.”
Viktor grinned and took Alex’s hand, helping him up, before wrapping an arm around Alex’s waist. Alex smiled, dropping his head on Viktor’s shoulder. Dmitri stood up, his fists clenching. “You return to this man, Alex? I give you everything! He left you.”
Alex looked up into Viktor’s face and said, “Let’s go upstairs, Kozzy, my Kozzy.”
Viktor grinned, nodding, and the two walked away, Dmitri yelling at them some more. Once around the corner, Viktor dropped his arm and Alex’s smile faded. He looked at his feet. “Thank you, Kozzy.”
“I couldn’t just leave you there, with him.” Viktor said, “I... care... about you.”
Alex smiled a bit and took a step closer to Viktor, who was blushing now and nervous. Alex took Viktor’s hands and said, “I care about you too, Kozzy.”
Viktor grinned, his face red from blushing. He felt happy, his fears dropping. Alex grinned in return and leaned into the other man. “Stay... tonight?”
“And the next day? The next morning?” Viktor said, voicing his concerns.
“Yes, stay for those too.” Alex said, “And don’t leave me.”
Viktor dipped his head down, crushing his lips to Alex’s, leaving him breathless and grasping his hips. Alex pressed his chest tight against Viktor’s, returning the kiss.
The End.
