What IS this? Help, please!

OK, so on Sunday morning I woke up and my entire right leg was swollen. I couldn't walk on it, and it was freezing cold. I have had nerve problems in my left arm before, and other than fibro, I have RA, OA, carpal tunnel & Cushing's Disease. I thought it was the Cushing's acting up, however, it hasn't gone away & now the swelling has gone down (as ( Read more... )

If you can't get your dad to take you to the hospital, I would call an ambulance. I've never heard of anything fitting those symptoms, but if it were me, I wouldn't screw around with it. It sounds serious - too serious to let your dad bully you into not getting it looked at.

Good luck!

I am just really scared of being taken seriously. Because it was BEFORE the fall 1/2-way down the steps that I couldn't walk on it. I guess I should've mentioned that on Sunday I woke up, and it was almost impossible to walk on, I thought it was because I had worn somewhat tight socks to bed. I know that sounds really weird. But. I took the tight & really warm socks off and put on something much looser, and that's when my thigh started not swelling and it was from my knee down. Then last night after my bath, the swelling went down to my ankle. It seemed ok, then as soon as I put my foot down anywhere where it was under 76 degrees (ie. down from my attic bedroom; I have my own thermostat up in my room) it started swelling. I appreciate the concern. Thanks for answering so quickly. My dad originally told me that my brother would take me to the ER, so here goes nothin'. And even if he won't take me, I will absolutely call an ambulance. Thanks again, girl.

Call 911. You need immediate medical attention and your Dad has no right to withhold it. Do this now, Please! It sounds much too serious to mess with.

Keep us posted.

Will do. Thank you very much! I just hope everyone takes me seriously. Thank you for answering so quickly. And you can count on those updates, hun. I just try NOT TO pay attention to my fibro, so if there's something new, I wouldn't know.

That's not fibro.

Thanks for letting me know. I try my best NOT TO think of my fibro, so if there's ever a *NEW* symptom, I really wouldn't know. Sometimes I have weird symptoms but I feel there's enough responses saying, "NO WAY!" that I will go to the ER for this other thingie. Thank you for taking concern & replying. It means a lot.

No, it's not fibro. It could be a blood clot, or cellulitis, or any number of things. You don't need people on the Internet to validate that you need medical attention. Get off your computer and call 911.

I have had my legs swell massively before and stop working properly. I rang NHS Direct (UK service) and they told me it could be a fibro thing and that I needed a steroid shot and that steroid shots are very helpful for fibro issues. Unfortunately I can't have steroids, so I had to wait for it to stop on its own, but I also have spinal issues that could have affected it.

However, it is really not usual, and you DO need medical attention.
Your Dad is being a bully, and is way out of order. You're of legal age to sort your own affairs, so no legal issues there - I'd call an ambulance.
Tell them what is happening, and also let them know your Dad is in the house, drunk and against you getting medical attention, so they are forewarned when they get to the house if he plays up. But make sure they know you are of legal age to do things yourself - so they WILL come and get you.

You definitely need it checking out. Put your Dad out of your mind and keep calm and make sure it's ok.

Let us know how it goes, and I hope it's ok!

Sounds like the UK's healthcare is one-thousand percent better than here in the States! I am enviable of this system ( ... )

Personally I'd be concerned about a possible clot from the numbness/swelling/cold feeling part. That would be enough to make me seek care right away, as clots are nothing to fool around with. I'm not sure about the rest of the symptoms other than perhaps they were a result of the fall. Please get it looked at and let us know how things went.

Well, technically thee fall came way after all thosen symptoms. I just updated & also forgot to mention that I sprained my ankle, have tendonitis in that leg from a previous "I-thought-I-broke-it" break, and had to have my shoulder's rotator cuff popped back in.

If this isn't the symptom of a clot, what is? I can't find anything that doesn't require a password. And if it didn't, it was very vague. And is it any different for a person w/ fibro? Because we have different symptoms that are pretty much ass-backwards from a "regular" human being.
