Feeling beaten up

I went to the Del Mar Fair yesterday (a fair that comes to San Diego every summer) and walked around for a good four hours or so, then was sitting down for a concert. When I got home, I could really feel my legs and feet aching, so I took some Ibuprofen and went to sleep. When I got up this morning, my legs are literally COVERED in bruises and I ( Read more... )

Isn't that weird? This illness has got to be the strangest one out of them all. None of it makes sense!

I used to get that. When I got that much exercize my skin would swell up and even touching it would bruise me. I found out now that I have a vitamin K deficiency related to having celiac disease and by making sure I have a multi w/K and eat tons of dark green leafy veges and a lot of banannas, it seems to be more under control.

Good for you for having fun yesterday! I hope that the agony of the next flare doesn't taint it for you!!!

I used to get really severe charliehorses in my calves in the middle of the night from a lack of potassium. I would just wake up suddenly and feel like someone was twisting a knife into my calf... it would end up with me screaming in pain and just sobbing. I started eating lots of bananas and I haven't had one in a while. *knocks on wood*

Yeah, I sure paid the price for it, though. I'm just having a horrible flare right now. I feel like I got the shit beaten out of my legs all the way from the hips down. It hurts to walk, and I can't even sit down without feeling a burning sensation from my butt all the way down to my toes. I hope this goes away fairly quickly. :(

I have bruised easily all my life. If I catch a bruise early, I apply arnica gel (can be found at health food stores), which helps reduce the severity and duration of the bruise if applied in time.

I've bruised easily all my life, too. I'm also anemic, so that's why, but I've never been so badly banged up from just WALKING. I'm usually sore after I do a lot of walking, but never like this. Just... wow, this sucks. Thanks for the tip about the arnica gel! :)
