Insurance is usually the one that dictates that Soma (or any other drug fo sleep) be only dispensed at 15 pills for 30 days.
I get my Norco (hydrocodone with less tylenol than vicodin) as a 30 day supply (100 pills). I've been on it ages now. But I have to see my doctor once a month to get it.
My insurance seems to dictate things very generously based on my email correspondence with them, copies of which, I've shared with my doctor. He still doesn't want to dispense more than 15 day supplies...it drives me nuts from a financial point of view, I'm on disability, not working, it's difficult to make ends meet but he admitted not wanting to raise a red flag with the FDA. I don't know if that's because his patient base is primarily pain, or because he did something wrong in the past. He's nice but maybe I need to check out another local doc or two to see their views on my meds and prescribing them.
my insurance is generous, it's my doc who's not. I'm on disability and can seem to get him to see the added financial hardship every extra co-pay costs me.
I believe the laws have changed, I used to have to get a new prescription every month for my hydrocodone. Now I can get 90 with 2 refill for a three month supply. I still need to go in every month for my oxycodone though.

Perhaps this might help. I'm going through HELL with my pain medications right now and therefore I must know a few things to aid my case. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll see if I can find it for you

I hope you get it all worked out.

It's your doctor who decides how many to give you at once, then your insurance if it's covered.
