I have had this nagging feeling all morning that I have forgotten something very important.  Unfortunately, since I've forgotten it, I have no idea what it is.

It isn't my lunch, though I did forget my lunch (it is handily on my kitchen table at home).

This weekend, to prepare for teaching this week, I got to read selections from The Decameron and Chaucer's The Franklin's Tale.  The Tale of Putting the Devil Back in Hell is not politically correct, but it is funny.  And The Franklin's Tale is just so wonderful--and it has the added bonus of making me think of my friend Dorigen and her husband ( Read more... )

Someone has jump-started our Flux Capacitor and brought the entire state of Tennessee back to 1978 or so.

You see, Tennessee is on some sort of heavy-duty oil pipeline connected to Houston.  Well, it's now sort of connected to Houston because of the hurricane.

Last night, I walked into my Chaucer class and realized that three of my students--one grad, two undergrads--were sitting around before class arguing about things in The Book of the Duchess.  Not just, "I didn't get it."  But an actual discussion of Chaucer--and I wasn't even involved.
