Singita Boulders Lodge, South Africa, Monday [Morning and Early Afternoon]

Oct 08, 2012 09:41

The sun rose over the lodge in a stunning display of colors though without the musical accompaniment at way too early in the morning, but everyone was up anyway, right? It was time for the very first game drive around the park, and an early start was necessary to see the animals at the watering holes.

Fortunately in a lodge this nice, coffee was ( Read more... )

Each suite comes with a private, heated swimming pool, a double-sided fireplace, a private lounge, and a game-viewing deck. Yes, the animals come close enough to see from your rooms. No, you can't feed your roommate to a lion.

Mitchell had had to book a trip down from Barry Island to get here-- which meant he hadn't arrived until relatively late last night. He'd acquired his suite key and snuck into Bo's room, where he'd promptly collapsed on the bed.

Where he still was that morning, snoring gently.

"Keep that up and if you get any pancakes." Not that there were pancakes yet or that Bo was even out of bed. But there were going to be pancakes. Eventually. Once she decided it was worth stretching to reach the phone.

Yes, it's ass early in the morning, but the animals are worth it, right? Grab a mug of coffee or tea from the lounge, put on a sat and some suntan lotion (or you'll regret it...) and climb into the Land Rovers, then get ready for your three hour tour through Kruger National Park. You won't see it all--the park is the size of Wales--but keep your eyes open. Highlights might include prides of lions, parades of elephants, crashes of white rhinos, herds of buffaloes, dazzles of zebras, clans of hyenas, harems of impalas, journeys of giraffes, businesses of mongooses...

[OOC: What you see is mod-able, the link is just to give you an idea of what a game drive feels like. It'll change daily. God, I love the internet.]

Kaidan had missed action.

And okay, the game drive was not exactly the same as going out fighting the good fight, but at least it kept him occupied - he'd been spending a lot of time stewing in his own feelings recently. After a while, it...

Well, he was going to spend this time peering out of the jeep, trying to get a feel for the place-- putting his focus into spotting whatever he could.
