170 words. And I nearly forgot to post this. And then I had to delete two short paragraphs, because I screwed up and didn't have time to fix it. *facepalm*

Simon Tam is quite dead. His parents--Gabriel and Regan--are childless, always have been. Their high-society friends no longer inquire after the children over hors d'oeuvres and fine wine.

Dr. Tam hasn't fared much better. No one at the hospital speaks of him except in hushed voices, keeping a wary eye out for potential eavesdroppers. Mostly it's the nurses, trading the latest gossip--theories as to the nature of his crime or rumors of recent sightings out on the rim, but both have become increasingly rare. They used to commiserate on the loss of such an eligible bachelor, but that stopped ages ago. Plenty of non-fugitive fish in the sea.

His fellow surgeons, colleagues, friends from the medacad, all refuse to talk about him. They cast disapproving looks whenever they catch the nurses gossiping.

Simon, fortunately, is alive and well. He has a family that cares about him, and he helps people, and he has a girl that he might just love. Most days he doesn't mind being just Simon.
