It had been awhile since Martha had seen James - a name she was still getting used to calling him. They had both been busy, she with her usual senatorial duties and he with the pressures of being one of the Oceanic 6. James hates flyin'. It ain't like he thinks the plane's gon' crash on some unchartable, god-forsaken island in the middle of the flatlands of the States or nothin' -- especially since he now knows it were that damned electromagnetic pulse that made 'em crash in the first place, and that'd be pretty damn hard ta replicate -- but all the attention he gets just pisses him off. Sure, the Oceanic flights are free and all, and he always gets a spot in first class, but goddamn. Least he weren't the doc or way too fuckin' friendly Hugo -- James had always made it clear in interviews and th' like that he didn't hold with bein' friendly or chatty with anyone who wanted ta ask about his trials on Membata or whatever the fuck that place was called ( ... )

Martha makes every attempt to conceal her perhaps over-enthusiastic excitement as she flings open the door. She still doesn't quite know how to act around men, though evidently she did fairly well the last time James was here.

She smiles brightly when she sees him, and beckons him to come inside. From there, she doesn't know what's appropriate - a hug? a kiss? a...handshake?

She decides it's probably best to leae it up to him in this case.

James grins at the sight of Mratha, stepping in and leanin' down easily ta kiss her cheek as he does so. "Howdy, Red," he drawls. "How you been?"

Martha takes a second to silently consider what a kiss on the cheek might mean, whether he's lost interest in her or is just as skiddish as she is.

But she smiles anyway, shrugging her shoulders. "Oh, fine, fine. Busy. And you?"
