i'm very lucky to be taking on the following project during this month of february. i always complain that i don't do much for black history month and that i don't take it on in my everyday life. this year, ironically enough, i will be doing something very suitable to celebrate the month... even if it'll be in a country that doesn,t officially ( Read more... )

This clip is amazing!! A-ma-zing. I did a cursory study of his work in my undergrad, and he was one of the poets who changed my world.

I'm thrilled you are doing this project! Let me know how I can purchase/ contribute/ give you my blood-if-need-be a copy of the cover.

Did you really want my addy? Oh well, if not, too bad, here it is:

And no, I don't mind who sees this.

I miss you too, Mel! Lots of love and hugs!!

hehehe
thanks!
actually, it's just a demo so that the cast of community members taking on a musical that was written with amiri baraka and his poems. since they're not pro singers, they just need to hear what the song is supposed to sound like. the most i might do is go to oakland, california with david murray (the jazz composer of the music) and teach the people how to sing the songs. i'll post more about what i did today. and i may get to post mp3's so don't worry about forking out cash. since it's a demo, it won'T get released... but maybe amiri baraka will get to hear me sing his poems... which is.. absolutely extraordinary.

thanks for the addy, i'll stop by the post office this very week!

*hugs*
