I remember cancelling Hulu and Epic to budget in Prime. I never thought I'd be one of those people who got stuff in the mail all the time, but getting the bulk snacks and endless loop of store credit makes the money back. It's just that one has to be careful of being gouged, like there might be one good deal and a hundred other vendors trying to rip you off. Comparing Wal-Mart prices is helpful.
I loved all those Batman's, especially the Jim Carrey Riddler with Two Face as the other villain. I'll have to watch that with the kids. There's one movie that didn't age well....we got to the awkward dinner scene a half hour into Edward Scissorhands before shutting it off. That movie sucked back then. Why would it be better now? -And the message is even more ominous considering how the world is with out-of-control migration and homeless people shitting on the sidewalks in every major city. Jim Carrey stole the show as Riddler, I think...Tommy Lee Jones would have/could have been a much better Two Face (as good as the Two Face in The Dark Knight perhaps), but I think the writer or director wanted him to be a 2-dimensional villain (or merely second fiddle to Riddler), so we got what we got.
I remember the writer- or director or producer, or *some*body important- saying that Edward Scissorhands was a story addressing how children cope with growing up; especially with respect to how kids tend to fidget with their hands when they don't know what else to do in a given situation. So, a "kid" with scissors for hands draws attention to that tendency to fidget and gives it a lot more significance and drama so that people will think and talk about that particular topic more.
Personally I think it's a good concept for a short film or maybe a single scene in a movie, but I don't think a *whole movie* was necessary! I didn't think it was bad, but I do hesitate when I think about when/if I'd watch it again with the kids. I ( ... )
