Hate solicitation at my door. Response tree goes along the line of:

Sorry. Not interested.
Really Not Interested.
Ok, Fuck off now.

I think the difference is that maybe Jonathan answered the door (or maybe this guy had a good line). Typically, I barely let them get anything out of their mouth. As soon as I realize they're selling something, I just say "not interested" and close the door. I won't even have a conversation with them. A fair amount of time, anything sold door-to-door is a scam.

And I know they're scams from personal experience. I narrowly avoided 2 in Illinois (one of which was a company pretending to be in some way associated with our gas company when they actually were another organization entirely doing some kind of gas company slamming).

Sad, but I just won't even bother anymore. Anyone knocking on my door better be someone I know or on fire and in need of some dirt and a phone call to 911.

I was REALLY stupid and paid 350 to a fly-by-night group to trim my big tree and the two smaller ones. I had to run grab my grandkids and when I got back, they were gone. One branch was cut and hacked into pieces, piled by my mailbox.

I was furious. And I felt stupid (and still do).

I will never trust again. it just doesn't happen.
