As per thisnews post: you can now repost any of your journal entries or comments immediately to Facebook or Twitter. Isn't that lovely

I don't open my FB much (certainly I won't access mine via LJ. I don't even know why) and I don't have a Twitter, so I don't care about myself ever cross-posting anything to either sites. On the other hand, I HAVE unfriended some rl friends here at LJ because I've started posting entries that I think they're all better off not knowing. The best thing about communities/friends lists in LJ is that it's intimate without being stifling.
Most of the people I know already know about me being a Harry Potter fan, and some work-mates like Harry Potter too, but I'm sure it would all be very awkward if they find out what I'm really talking about when I say 'HP fandom'. I'm facing enough shit trying to tone it down that I'm bisexual (ok at uni, not so cool at work), and I don't need all that other jazz.
So yes, I understand what you mean exactly.
And I've added you on DW. The interface there makes me want to die, but it's never bad to be prepared for the worst. Haha. :D
If I've done it right, I've added you back over there. :]
This whole thing is just stupid. Thing is, I can totally understand building in a crossposting option for your own entries, but comments? Even leaving aside the privacy issue, I don't see why you'd want to. :/
And yeah, seriously. As I said in another comment, it doesn't even make sense to be able to share comments. It's totally just LJ wanting to get on the whole Facebook thing without thinking it through.
i'm just sick of it being touted at the great savior of fandom in journaling services or whatever the fuck (particularly by people who have all but left lj but still feel the need to yap about it every time it fails to talk about how evil it is. dude, you're not even here anymore, why do you care). also one of its founders turned out to be bugfuck insane, so.
also, all of my communities are active here and don't have a dw mirror, and crossposting is a hassle i'd rather not bother with. if i were to move there, i wouldn't have much to look forward to in terms of activity. basically, until the mass fandom move some people have been predicting doesn't happen, i'm not moving there or anywhere else.
Yeah, fair enough. Given how much LJ seems to cock up I sort of like the idea of an alternative journal site, but... well, most people/comms have stayed here and not bothered moving to DW, haven't they. So yeah, when DW fans go on about how wonderful it is, I do get a bit ¬_¬ about it.
I didn't know about an insane founder! That sounds like some juicy gossip

Exactly this. What nugget of golden comment wisdom is so important that it has to be cross posted anywhere? Jeez.

Anyway let's hope it won't be used too much in general, communities are okay I guess... but friend stuff? Not really I think.
