Birthday! TV or $1 Million?

Jul 22, 2007 00:45

Happy Day After HP Day to those who celebrate. And --

Happy Birthday, aninnocent!
I hope you have a great day, a spectacular year (Europe!), and an AWESOME Comic-Con! And that I get to see you for more than just a few seconds :)

In a changeup from the usual TVBF fare, here's some modern art -- actually, it's a photo of Vodka through a microscope.

No, really :P )

poll, birthday

I could. I wouldn't be happy, but I think I could. We didn't have a TV the first two years we were married--no movies, no dvds, no internet downloads. The third year we were married, we had a vcr hooked up to a computer monitor, so I watched movies maybe every other week. It wasn't too difficult, and I eventually caught up with the shows I wanted to watch at a later date. So for the Monkeys' college (heck, to pay for mine), I'd totally give up TV. But not for life.

Wow, two years. And a third with just a VCR. Whenever I've gone without TV for a week or two at a time, I do start to get used to it, but it helps to know that my TV (and DVD player, and TiVo) and I will be back together, soon :)

So for the Monkeys' college (heck, to pay for mine), I'd totally give up TV.
I totally expected more yes answers from parents. It's different when you've got responsibilities, and other people's futures to think about.

See, $1 million in the Bay Area isn't much. Could barely by a house in the city. So for a lifetime without TV? Not a fucking chance. But a year? Even 5? Sure, maybe.

Heh, that is SO true. Especially in the city. A million bucks certainly doesn't go as far as it used to. Not that I underestimate how much I could DO with it. Not that I don't have an ONGOING LIST in my head, heh. But give up TV for life is not on the list of things I'd do for it.

P.S. OMG THREE DAYS TO COMIC-CON YAYEEEEE!

Oy, you're so lucky. I'm not leaving until Friday after work, so it'll be a looooooooooong 4-ish days for me.

Are you going to the Sat night 10 year screening?

It's high on the list! I think the only thing that would stop us from going is heat exhaustion. (Dude, last year? HOT.)

I haven't really examined the schedule, but if I don't get to Joss' S8 Buffy/Serenity thingie, I really hope that he (and we) get to the screening/sing-along :)

I could do a year. If I also stayed off the Internet so I wouldn't know what I was missing. But more than that would be stretching it. I love my TV a ridiculous amount.

Oh, the 'net (especially lj) would be torture if I couldn't watch my shows. But staying off might be worse... Oh, sweet addiction!

And gah, I am SO sorry I completely spaced on Saturday. Did you get my voice-mail message? (FIVE hours late, GAH.) But hey, I'm going to have my cell with me at Comic-Con so you might get a text or two from me. Especially if we manage to see Joss :)

I did not get a VM. Now I'm wondering if you have the right number.

And there I was on Saturday, clutching my phone and waiting for you to rescue me from having to endure another round of getting my hinder kicked at chess, thinking, "Wherefore Fennie?"

Just kidding. Well, not really. But I don't want to give you guilt. ;) And it's not as if I couldn't have called you anyway. [/lame]

I emailed you the number I dialed... Heh, wonder who it is?

And I do have guilt!! It's not like I was doing anything, just puttering my place in between strenuous bouts of napping. Then at around 5-6, I remembered and did a literal facepalm. D'oh!! SO LAME. If I did indeed have the wrong number, please send me the correct one? Then expect some SQUEE TEXTS! :D
