Birthday! TV or $1 Million?

Happy Day After HP Day to those who celebrate. And --

Happy Birthday, aninnocent!
I hope you have a great day, a spectacular year (Europe!), and an AWESOME Comic-Con! And that I get to see you for more than just a few seconds :)

In a changeup from the usual TVBF fare, here's some modern art -- actually, it's a photo of Vodka through a microscope.

No, really :P

TV or $1 Million
There's an article about how you'd save $1 million (probably more) by giving up television. There's some pretty creative math, there, but the article does make a point about the comprehensive, long-term cost of watching television. However, what's sticking with me is the first line:

"A recent study found that it would take $1 million for someone to be willing to give up TV for the rest of their lives."

Okay, it's one thing to theorize about saving a million bucks over a lifetime, but what if Howie Mandel offered ALL of it to you in a briefcase, today? Am I the only one who... wouldn't take it? I ask that as someone who really loves money, y'all. Who obsesses over it, who knows exactly what she'd do with a cool mil. But the rest of my life?! I don't even have to think about it.

I have no doubt that I'd get a hell of a lot done. That'd I'd reconnect with my family. Commune with nature. Rediscover art, music, film, books. Find god and figure out the meaning of LIFE, but... Dean. And Sam. Lex. Friday Night Lights and 24 (it'll get back on track!) and... all of it! What if Joss came back to television? What if he brought Nathan with him? What about all the brilliant and pretty TV still to come?!?

So, no deal. Honestly? I don't think I could do it for ten years. Even five. One? Yes. I could do it for one. Maybe two. But it would be HARD. And yes, I'm well aware of what that says about me, but I don't care.

Instead, I poll. But when I say give it up, I mean give it ALL up. No DVDs, no downloads, nada. If it's made for TV, you give it UP. So.

Poll Deal or No Deal?

Thanks for playing. And for watching. What on earth we would talk about otherwise? ;-)

poll, birthday
