My Buffyverse Timeline Project.

Hi, all. I thought I would share something that I've been working on for a while-- my Buffyverse fanon timeline. These are basically dates that I use when I'm writing most of my fanfics to keep up with backstory and such. It's quite insane extensive, I think. I'm still working on formatting it, spellchecking it, and making sure that I've got ( Read more... )

I always get Xander's mom's name wrong. I guess it's because both Fred and Wesley's fathers have the same name; I then, for some reason, think that Xander and Willow's mothers have the same name.

Joss Whedon said in a TV Guide interview way back when that Buffy's official birthday is January 19th as her first real birthday episode aired on January 19th, 1998. However, she is listed as having two other birthdates canonically in different episodes of the show- May 6th, 1979 and October 24th, 1980.

Well, as far as I know Whedon was using the screenplay for the movie rather than the movie itself as a semi-guideline. Like I said, I have an old TV Guide in which Joss decides (whether it was off-the-cuff decision) that Buffy's "official" birthday is January 19th. However, on the show, during "I Robot, You Jane," Buffy's school records are shown on the computer, listing her birthdate as "October 24, 1980." And then later, in S3, when her records are once again pulled up, the birthdate is changed to "May 6, 1979." I can wank those as clerical errors. However, Buffy says that she's "a Capricorn on the cusp of Aquarius" which would put her birthday a little bit later in January, unless she's just being glib in her response. Still, that means there's a whole host of possible dates in there.

This is awesome. And needs to be, like, a wiki.

Thank you! Well, I think probably most stuff I have is on the Buffy/Angel Wikia, but it's missing a lot of incidentals like Spike and Angelus finding out that the Immortal had given the nuns they were after safe-passage in Frankfurt (I've got to add that to mine). The problem I have with the current Buffy Wikia is that the shipping wars and the S8 comics cause a lot of information to be constantly changed. The entire section on the Master is a disaster because people have been trying to reconcile his side plot in the S8 and the retconning it caused with what the show told us about what he was doing with himself for hundreds of years.

If you're interested, this was The WB's official history of Angel that they brought out back in 2001. Fortunately a fan site managed to archive it.
