Rabe was greatly altered by her time in the Separatist prison camp. She performed her duties flawlessly, but the presence of any male, even Panaka, caused her to blanch and tremble. In the night she woke shrieking, struggling to escape from the same sisterly arms in whose solace she had finally found sleep. When Eirtae reported one morning with a black eye, Amidala's own eyes became liquid jewels that threatened to spill, but all she said was, "Oh, my dear."
That night, Rabe was ordered by her Queen to weep. The Handmaidens sat with her, by the fountains, until she managed to do it. Words would come later.
