It was Sunday. Some of the crew had been given a morning's leave by Captain Adama. This put him squarely in Sharon's good-books, as she'd had little sleep for over a fortnight.
Her bunk was uncomfortable. She had no idea why. She'd turned the mattress inside out, twice, smacked the pillow around, swapped blankets with Lee but to no avail. Now she had a renewed sympathy for people with stim addictions, because the long nights of throbbing silence and no interaction were starting to make her barmy.
Kara met her in the showers. They exchanged a long, soggy kiss. She laughed at Kara's panicked scrabble for a towel as shampoo rolled slowly into her eyes. They both laughed, and when they were dry and warm they sat on a bench to talk.
"You figured out the issue with your bunk yet, Boomer?"
Sharon sighed deeply, her elfin features seizing in frustration. "Nope. Lee even got so sick of my complaints that he sent me to the ship shrink."
"You're kidding me? What did he say?"
With a blush, and a cringe, Sharon admitted what she was still coming to grips with herself. "He says it's psycho-somatic. Like, I'm not uncomfortable. I'd just be more comfortable sleeping somewhere else."
Kara nudged her. She knew exactly where.
