You avert your eyes when she wakes up, clothes ripped from her body during the change. It’s a silly thing. Like you haven’t been watching her the whole time she’s slept, like you haven’t seen everything. You saw things no one else should see. Heard bones crack and flesh rip, and now you’re turning your head like you’re coy.
“Well…now we know,” she says and it makes you want to cry, how well she’s taking it.
“Now we know,” you agree.
“A ghost and a werewolf, well why the hell not?” She laughs and suddenly she’s standing right in front of you, completely naked, forcing you to look at her. “Bit late to turn away now.”
You look up at her and nod mutely. You should say something really, but what is there to say?
“I’m sorry.”
She laughs again and gestures widely. “Don’t be. I’m like you now. I’m special.” There’s bitterness there, but not as much as there should be. “So…any suggestions for getting home? What does George do? Run home naked?”
“Mitchell…”
“Oh of course!”
“I can get you clothes. I can, y’know pouf back home, grab your clothes, pouf back.”
