It’s not the first time this has happened. They've been here before, progressed this far, but never, ever have they moved further.
She's nervous, she knows they both are, but it's time, and yet, every time they get here, to this point, (where she knows if they let themselves go they could fall forever - together) her hands are halted by a firm grip, and the body against hers stiffens.
She sighs into the warm mouth pressed against hers and rolls away, turns her face towards the far wall and focuses in the middle distance. She hates the way she's acting - feels like she's pouting, and really if she's honest, she is - but she never really expected this. Didn't expect this resistance.
"I'm sorry."
And there it is. An apology that she doesn't deserve. She screws her eyes shut and berates herself.
"It's okay," she tries to sound sincere but the words ring hollow in her ears.
“Don’t be mad, it’s a big step.”
“I’m not mad,” and when she says it, it’s true. With dark eyes, the depth of her own voice surprises her, “I just want you so badly.”
“I know.”
“No, I mean…I love you.”
