Chakotay watched the two redheads in amusement both so similar and so different. Both strong willed, independent leaders, one placing their faith in science, the other mythology. And in their own way, each of them was right.
The sexual tension that simmered between them was intoxicating as they danced around each other, talking of integration, aid when what they were actually discussing was the start of a relationship. Once he would have been jealous, but seeing the vibes between them, he realised why he had never stood a chance. It would be interesting to see when his Captain would realise the truth of the matter. He didn’t believe she knew herself as well as she thought and he was waiting for the sign.
He wondered if either of them were aware they’d already decided to pursue a relationship, that their flirting was only deciding dominance, even if neither would admit it.
He could see other crew members watch their interaction with interest as well; recently they’d not been used to see the Captain so relaxed. Or watch someone eat Neelix’s food with apparent relish as the President did or appeared to. But as one of her bodyguards has said, you could never quite tell with her.
Oh yes. Almost there. The Captain touched the older woman on the arm, but it was somehow more intimate, almost a caress. The President caught her hand, making eye contact. Their gazes were locked, in sexually charged contact, neither giving ground until Kathryn blinked.
