Shizuka listened closely to the sound of the cicadas calling to each other. It was a peaceful and tranquil sound. A sound she realized she had missed, since there weren't any cicadas in the hospital. Although the thought of that makes her laugh a bit, quietly.
But, thinking about the hospital only made her feel sad again, the bandages around her eyes starting to itch.
Her onii-chan's friend, Anzu, the one whose voice for some reason reminded her of a bird's chirp, was nearby, waiting, although Shizuka suspected she was waiting impatiently.
Then, suddenly, Anzu says, the gentleness in her voice surprising her, "Are you ready to go?"
With some reluctance, Shizuka nods, taking a few confident steps forward, reaching out until she felt Anzu's hand grab her own.
She did not let go of Anzu, not even when they were out of the forest.
