I haven't gone to see the new Star Trek movie. To be completely honest, I'm not sure I'm going to. My dad was a Trekkie--a Spock fan, and honestly how my mother can be surprised that all three of her kids ended up fannish in one way or another is beyond me since we all take after my dad on that score (and she and I laughed about that this past ( Read more... )

Aw, that's awesome that your dad was a Trek fan. Maybe you'll be able to watch the movie someday in his honor.

I think I probably will when it comes out on DVD. It's just bad timing at the moment--the anniversary of my dad's death is in a week and a half, so that would probably affect my enjoyment of the movie, alas...

Yeah, can you believe it? He died the week of my sister's high school graduation, and she's been out of college for a year now.

Doesn't seem that long...wow.

It hits me at the oddest times too - I miss my Dad and my Grandfather. There are just things that are happening that make me wish they were around, stuff that they could understand and love, things that only we can talk about.

So yeah, I know - totally walking in your shoes here. *hugs you*

If I lived over there, I would so ask you to watch the new Trek movie. *hugs again*
