Yeah, I think we were all a little shocked by that. Especially since your comment was entirely correct - we should applaud athletes who come out, especially while they're still employed as athletes, because there's a lot they're risking when they do (because, as you said, of our heteronormative culture). I mean, if we're talking about sports in general, I'd say it can be a lot worse than just heteronormative...which is actually something I was discussing with a friend the other day who is on the crew team where I go to school.
