I want to see that movie so bad. My mom has all of his stage plays on DVD (except Diary of a Mad Black Woman). The play was funny. I'm hoping the movie is even better ^_^
*pouts* I wanna go to the movies with yall, tooooo :(
Maybe when I save up money, I could go in July. I have the 3rd + 4th off ^_^
I feel as though I'm left to believe that rich black men will whoop your ass and true happiness is found only through the gentle hands of a blue collar brotha. *eyeroll* *yawn* LOL. Now, when I think about it.....that's the exact same plot as Diary of a Mad Black Woman, weird!
I was actually pleasantly surprised by this flick. I don't ususally do the 'black' movie thing cause some of them can be sooooo bad (see: Soul Plane{I actually did like that Sanaa Lathan flick from two weeks ago) and I was not expecting some Shakespeare but it was really funny in some parts. The Color Purple reference had me in tears oh and the Good Times thing was hella funny.
I was forced to watch the original play of Diary of a Mad Black woman one day when I was stuck in the beauty shop and IT SUCKED so hard. Alll of a sudden some one would start singing and the message was soooo religious that I almost left that shop with wet hair.
I do agree with you on the 'blue collar brotha' thing cause I too have seen some faulty mofos in every tax bracket but I do like seeing a fine brotha on the screen.
Girl, I'm STILL laughing at that color purple reference! That shit was way too funny!!!!! Lmao@you wanting to leave the salon with wet hair. I seriously have got to go see sanaa's movie. Maybe tomorrow :)
The next time someone starts talking mess - I'm going to step back and start the line before I start whoopin some ass. 'All my life I had to fight.....'
Greatest concert experience ever. Even with all the rain & standing for about 12 hours, it was worth it. There was so much love, & respect. Sept 18, 2004 will stay with me forever
( ... )
The movie was good. I just got back from seeing it. Some of Dead Prez' material had me saying WTF?, too...lol. Everything else you described looked dope from how the movie portrayed it. I love Big Daddy Kane, but I was so mad he came out in the Cross Colours throwback-looking shirt...lol. Lauryn looked beautiful! How crazy was the crowd when the Fugees came out?
