I thought there was an "In Loving Memory..." for Heath Ledger somewhere in the credits?
There was - it appeared right after all the main cast members names' appeared in the credits, pretty early in the credits. But it wasn't just Heath, it was Heath Ledger AND the name of that stunt guy who died during filming.
I swear I stared at that screen until they started going on about production units or whatever and I didn't see anything. That must have been a very quick flash then, probably during one of the many times I almost tripped walking down the steps in the dark.
Wasn't there a minute of silence at the premiere though? I still think it's weird. People you've never even heard of get "dedicated to..." all the time both in movies and TV shows so all things considered I think they really could have done a better job of it. *frowns*
It was there right after the main character list. We saw it no problem in great big letters. But it wasn't just him, it was him and another guy who was killed during production.
I guess this is what being jostled around by lots of people and trying not to tumble head first down the stairs in the dark will do, make you miss stuff. *sighs*
All his scar stories! lol
It was such fun. Even if I had to run out in the middle of one of the car chases because my bladder was at the point of eruption. Fastest toilet trip in history!
I didn't know that was in there and I'm kind of glad I didn't. I wanted the movie to be about the movie and about this new incarnation of the joker and not about Heath Ledger's death. His performance was amazing and I wanted to focus on that. I was blown away by it. He does deserve to be nominated for an award. It has nothing to do with his death.
It was so disconcerting to see him up there on the screen alive though, and to think, "but he's dead now." It's really impossible for me to reconcile in my mind since he wasn't someone I knew.
I never thought of the movie as being about Heath or his death because of course it wasn't. It was a movie lots of people put lots of work into to make happen. But it is a long honored tradition to put "In loving memory.." or something similar if someone has died that worked on a project, movie or tv, whether that be an actor or someone more behind the scenes. And since for once it was an actor I knew about and was very much affected by his death I wanted to see it. But I didn't and that kinda bummed me because I really wanted that emotional impact after watching his final performance. That's a personal preference of course but whether it had been there or not I don't think that would have affected the movie in any way or made it about those who died, no more than when this has been done to commemorate other people in the past. It was a brilliant performance and I do expect he will get an Oscar, or at least a nomination, and that he would have gotten it regardless of if he was alive or not.
