I don't believe this shit.

They closed the submission portal one day early. People are going berserk on their site. It clearly says October 1st to 14th.

Well, there went my chance.

[ETA. Yay! They've admitted their mistake and are going to open again soon. When and for how long they don't say, details clearly aren't their strong suit, but at ( Read more... )

How the hell can they up and do that? I hope they are made to reconsider; that sucks.

It's stupid, they never said what time or what timezone. I've seen comments from people in the US who tried to submit 11:30 pm, their time, and it was already closed. The info is also both unclear and contradictory. In some places it says 'until' October 14th, in other 'through' and on their Facebook page it clearly says 'after'.

I hope so too but I'm not very optimistic. Even if it does make them look disorganized and untrustworthy they're a big enough company that they can just ignore it, I guess.

That's just downright unprofessional.

Seriously. Not just the closing early but the contradictory information...and that's sad that you're right they probably will just ignore it...but I would seriously wonder how can you have a professional relationship with a company that treats its potential partners like that. Really not building bridges there people. I would think that authors are going to be leery of a company that acts so unprofessionally.

well now that you have it in format to be submitted, why not send it out to some agents and other publishers, why are you thinking this is the only publisher in the world that might be interested? there are hundreds of publishers, thousands of agents, this is what you want to do, you want to be professionally published, this got you over the first humps of 1) admitting it to yourself, 2) realizing you have material that is worth it, 3) formatting that material for professional submission...

so now all you have to do is start sending it out to new places...JK Rowling submitted her first manuscript over 30 times to rejection after rejection...

man up, kiddo...you wanna go pro...start acting like one...get out there and submit it

Hey, I see in the comments that they offered to re-open the portal (for a limited time) so maybe you want to keep an eye on the site and their facebook thingy for the rest of today? *keeps fingers crossed*
