Norway tragedy

I thought it was bad yesterday but then when I woke up this morning I read the death toll (92 and counting, almost all of them teenagers 14-17 years old) and broke down all over again. It's just too damn horrible to be real ( Read more... )

It's insane, I think all of us who live in scandinavia feel violated today, it's just so close to home, it's us. The only thing that's keep me from crying all day is the fact that I've been working.

I read your post and yes, you are absolutely right. I think for us it's a bit like America is made up of all these different states but together they identify as Americans. It's a little like that with us, the unity of the Northern countries, although we each have very strong patriotic feelings to our respective homes. We have so much history together, both good and bad, that we are practically one big family: some close, some less so, some bad blood, some rivalry, some hurt, a lot of cheap jokes and mocking, but above all a whole lot of love. When it matters we stand together. And when one is hurt we all are ( ... )

It's the same here and we also have a lot of peopel living and owrikng in sweden, hell they're right next door... peopel actually commute over the border everyday from both sides.

This thing is still so hard to understand but I'm also so proud of us all, for keeping our heads straight and fighting this with compassion, love, and kindness instead of hatred and violence.

I only read the news in passing yesterday from my mobile but this morning revealed the horribleness of it all. I can't understand how someone can justify to themselves killing innocent children just because he doesn't happen to agree with the political decisions of the government. It just goes way over my head.

I've actually avoided the news a bit today because I find myself fighting tears every time there's some coverage about this huge tragedy. To think that something like this happened in my neighboring country is somehow hard to grasp. The Scandinavia has been always considered to be a sort of "bird home" but something like this happening really makes you realize that we can't trust that anymore.

I was in shock yesterday and then woke up this morning to find the world is even more insane than I could have imagined. When there were rumours of 20-30 kids I just thought, no way, that can't be. Someone is freaking out, spreading wild thoughts. And then it turns out it's three times that number.

I've been fighting tears all day after I stopped crying this morning. Been trying to distract myself with all kinds of things but somehow I keep going back to checking news sites and Twitter and getting more and more depressed.

It is too horrible to think about and just makes me weep at the loss of so many young people. What is wrong with people like that perpetrator that they can do such horrendous things. I haven't yet read what the motivation is supposed to be and simply can't imagine a state of mind where such things are possible. I am so sorry for the people of Norway.

It's just appalling. I hate that the shooter is still walking and breathing, but on the other hand I want to make sure he's wrung out dry so we know if he was alone.

So much sorrow for no good reason. Those poor, poor children.
