Stunningly comprehensive and erudite list. (Have never even heard of Vexille, remember nothing of Sexing the Cherry.) Yay for another Bao Chai and Dao Ma Dan lover.
My problem with the meme, as I said when I did it, is this 'characters you *love*' part. Can't see loving any of the ferocious matrons in I, Claudius; though I only read the books when I was far too young and impressionable to do so.
Which is why I changed it to 'like', either liking the characters or the way they were written. Perhaps awareness of the historical Livia before I read "I, Claudius", and exposure to too many Chinese drama serials/novels whose female *protagonists* did far worse things for much weaker reasons, coloured my reading. Even with the modification to allow more characters, the list took an indecently long time to compile, considering that the wuxia genre along should have no dearth of strong (though not necessarily likeable) women.
I can seen the attraction of Daiyu in book and TV series, but always found Baochai more appealing. (though have always felt like smacking Baoyu, whom I found rather annoying and self-centred even in an abridged version of the book in school).
Watched Dao Ma Dan on TV (a few years after it was shown in the cinema when I was a tad too young to appreciate the dialogue), and was instantly smitten :D
(Vexille: interesting plot and good animation, but only the title character stood out.)
I can never appreciate Dao Ma Dan's dialogue because even the DVD release uses the charming but James-Joyce-on-acid HK subtitle factory subtitles. I confess, the subtitles and Brigitte Lin were what made the movie one of my faves: the villain comes from the Ticket Office, and when poor 白妞 (given name Pat Neil, do not ask me why) is dragged out of hiding at the opera, he yells Knock her up! At which they affix handcuffs to her. (The only possible explanation for that, which occurred to me much later, is that the Cantonese ear tends to conflate L and N, and he's saying Lock her up. How the subtitler managed to remember that nock is spelled with a k, I do not know.)
If I had to do the original "love" meme the list would be a lot shorter (there must be more female characters I like, only can't recall them now >_<)

ahahah oh god *wheeze* Reminds me of the LOTR subtitles making their rounds some years ago (but those were bootleg - whereas your DVD was surely factory-approved? The mind boggles)
