What's this?! I can't believe there aren't any comments on this story yet!
Anyway, as you see I did finally get around to reading your "New Territory" one-shots, starting with this one, which really pleased me because I've always liked to imagine that Buffy took care of Spike after intervention rather than just leaving him there, with that kiss as his only comfort. I would not have guessed she'd go as far as offering him her blood to heal, though -- that really is a huge gesture. Spike's alarmed reaction is right on the mark! Of course, after this he is her willing slave even more than he already was. And I like how Buffy is starting to see a new side of him now. (Literally having seen all his sides probably didn't hurt either ;-)
Hey, thanks for reading! :) I think LJ stories are pretty low in discoverability, or maybe people just don't read or comment on old posts? I think I get more comments on "old" stories on AO3 than on LJ.
But I'm so glad you enjoyed this! I refuse to believe that Buffy would kiss Spike purely out of gratitude. It's a matter of principle for Buffy, who doesn't use sex/affection to buy loyalty (turning down Xander just before her first death/resurrection, refusing to say "I love you" to Riley to make him stay, not backing down when Spike threatens to feed her to Drusilla, etc.). So I'm reading that kiss as a symbol of a real turnaround of Buffy's attitude towards Spike, and well, the rest of the story just followed. :)

Oh yes, I completely agree. And she wouldn't say "I love you" out of gratitude either. I really don't get how some people can interpret her ILY in Chosen that way.
