Thank you! I'm very fond of Spike&Dawn. I think it's the most tangible part of Spike's love for Buffy in the beginning.

I see the Spike&Dawn relationship as something between a father/daughter relationship and a big brother/little sister relationship. There's fierce protectiveness on Spike's part, unwavering trust on Dawn's part, but they tease each other and genuinely gets along, like a couple of mates. (I think Spike sometimes shows the maturity of a teenager, so that helps.) :) There's some co-dependence in there too, since in Buffy's absence they're both relying on each other to live through just the next day, and the day after that. That shared pain becomes their source of mutual healing.
Dawn's no wilting flower, and the one person around whom Spike can relax and show his softer side. I love throwing them together to see what they'd do. I'm glad I managed to convey some of my love for Spike&Dawn in this little story. That's what every writer wants to hear! :)

I agree. Spike is the "do as I say, not as I do" type...
