Giles is such a tragic hero. He's given up so much, lost so much. Because he's often the only adult around Buffy, he doesn't often get to commiserate with, let alone take comfort from the Scoobies. (Spike clearly has the maturity of a 15-year-old; which is one reason he gets on so well with Dawn.)
I wanted to tell you that I started to incorporate Joyce, but ran out of time. I'll work on completing it in time for the next open posting day. :) Thank you for the thoughtful prompt!
