John Hurt Passed Away

Jan 28, 2017 14:09

To me, John Hurt is the Slash Dragon on Merlin. The news of Mr. Hurt's death was released yesterday. RIP. On Merlin, Colin Morgan actually recorded his scenes with Mr. Hurt in one room. But it seems Morgan does't have any social media account. Many celebrities have expressed their condolence on social media, including Jamie Bell and Chris Evans who ( Read more... )

John Hurt was an actor I appreciated a lot and was in great movies from different decades. I'm very sorry he is gone.
At least, the people we are losing so far in 2017 are people who had a long life behind them. We don't get the feeling that they got surprised by death like Bowie, Prince, Alan Rickman, George Michael, last year.
Still, John Hurt will be missed.

I don't think I've ever seen Jamie Bell looking as happy as what we are witnessing these last weeks with Kate Mara. Good for both of them.

As for his comment on the current situation, I think he might be commenting about his environment - people who make movies. I understand it does not resonate with people the same way the fate of "everyday people" who got banned would, but I understand where Jamie is coming from.

I remember his left views had offended some British when Margaret Thatcher died. I think he has always assumed his political opinions.

Unfortunately, the quarrels we are witnessing are far from over.

I feel the history is unfolding before me. Will the USA be replaced by another country as the most powerful country in the world? Will there still be the United States of America since the country is so divided now. Anything could happen.

I was sad when I heard John Hurt died. A great actor. As for Jamie tweeting political stuff, he's got every right to do that. I'm quite unhappy with the situation and have been to anti-Trump marches and will go again.

I feel one of the reasons the Democratic Party lost the election was because they were busy pointing fingers but failed to acknowledge the real motives of the poor voting for Trump. I mean you cannot just tell people they're wrong, they're crazy. You need to give them hope.

Also the political correctness didn't help. If someone cannot feed their family, if they already felt their jobs were shipped overseas or robbed by illegal immigrants, do they have the luxuries to fight for issues like refugees or climate change?

It is sad those Trump voters actually believe that Trump can change things for the better. What I see is someone who took advantage of the situation and grabbed the power.

I feel the Americans need to adjust priorities and create a peaceful domestic environment first. Globally, the balance of power has already started to change. The world order will be rewritten. New powers will arise. Just study the history, no empire can last forever.

The Democratic party wasn't paying attention to the middle class and some of what was going on with the loss of jobs. And they assumed that their base would remain loyal and so ignored them. Idiots. No one likes being ignored.

Hopefully it will get better but I'm not holding my breath. As for the empire falling, they all do and sometimes it's pretty nasty on the way down.
