To me, John Hurt is the Slash Dragon on Merlin. The news of Mr. Hurt's death was released yesterday. RIP. On Merlin, Colin Morgan actually recorded his scenes with Mr. Hurt in one room. But it seems Morgan does't have any social media account. Many celebrities have expressed their condolence on social media, including Jamie Bell and Chris Evans who worked with Mr. Hurt on Snowpiercer. Jamie wrote: "I will forever cherish the memories I have of the incomparable John Hurt. A brilliant actor & a beautiful soul."
Jamie has been very political recently. The whole Muslim Ban thing gets on his nerves. He tweeted: "Asghar Farhadi, 2 time Oscar nominee, BAFTA nominee, Golden Bear winner, Palme D'or & César award nominee. BANNED from entering US." Later, he added "Let me add Oscar WINNER, Golden Globe winner, César winner & listed on Foreign Policy's Top 100 Global Thinkers, Asghar Farhadi."
I can understand the frustration Hollywood lefties like Jamie feel about the current situation. But will most of the Americans care about whether Farhadi can enter the US to attend an award ceremony? Hollywood elites often like to force their ideology on people who have other priorities. In this case, if Jamie tweeted the two refugees detained at the JFK airport, it would resonate with me better.
Anyway, I wish I were not living in this era. This period will be interesting to study for future generations. Too bad my life will be affected. I do not like the uncertainty.
Finally, Jamie was back to LA this weekend. He looked very happy with his fiancée Kate.
