Terrible TV Ratings for Turn: Washington's Spies and Damien

Apr 27, 2016 11:56

Turn: Washington's Spies Season 3 Episode 1 aired on Monday. It only got 471,000 viewers. S2 average was 778,000, S1 was 1,430,000. I thought AMC was quite generous that they decided to renew the show for a third season, but with the new number, I really cannot see it being renewed again. Jamie should start to look for new jobs. I actually like Damien. I think Bradders is really doing some very good work in it. Overall, it is not badly done, a few hiccups in the story but overall, I find it very creepy and well done. I will be sorry to see it cancelled.

I watched it, my main problem with the show is the pace. There are not many plot twists. Eight episodes in, we did not learn anything new about Damien. Other than Damien himself, I am not interested in other characters.

I think the point is that Damien needs to learn about Damien and he is not liking what he is learning. That is why I feel Bradders is doing good work, this is all very personal and intense for the main character. I wasn't expecting a lot to happen until he actually decides to accept or reject his identity. If there was a second season, I would expect it to move out of this self exploration story and into using his "powers" somehow.

They should just condense his learning process to 3-4 episodes, then move on to the next phase, more fun stuff. I do not think the show runners have a clear idea of what they want to do with Damien.

While I like what Bradley has done with his character, I can't take the gore or the horror aspects so I'm hoping he gets another job that I can watch.

I actually think the gore on this show is quite tamed comparing with some of the shows I watched before ;p

Yes, I remember we have a different tolerance for gore. It may not be the reason why the show isn't getting the ratings but I know some people who wouldn't watch it because of the gore/violence. Anyway, I hope Bradley gets something else if Damien isn't renewed.

Well ... I did notice that there was not a lot of publicity for this new season. Most viewers must not even be aware that it is on.

Last year they did quite a few promo, this year, it feels AMC gave it up. Strangely, Jamie went to a NBC Sports program. He in Arsenal fan mode is so animated.
