[Accidental Video]

[The video kicks in to show Sam Tyler sitting on the couch in his apartment, opening a beer clutched in his hands. But before he can take a drink he freezes and slowly turns his head to stare at the network device sitting on a nearby end-table. Licking his lips nervously, he lets the beer drop forgotten from his fingers, and he ( Read more... )

No. That's just here.

[Pause, and then more gentle.] What are you getting at, Sam?

... right. It's just here. But where is that?

Cameron, this can't possibly be real. Don't you see? Doesn't anyone see that?

You know, I agree in theory. My initial theory was hallucinatory drugs, but really. I'm not a neurologist, but I don't think my brain can make this up. Not in this much detail, not with this much apparent consistency, not on this scale.

Besides, if we're being pragmatic about it - what does it matter whether this place is real or just in our heads? We can roll over and wish none of this had ever happened to us, and we'll likely have a miserable time, or we can roll with the punches and try to make the best of it, whatever it is.

I'm not entirely convinced this is real, but there's no way for me to find a conclusive answer.

... you want me... to give up? To just accept it? You don't know what you're asking.

How's the saying go. "Give me the serenity to bear things I can't change, give me the strength to change things I can bear and the wisdom to know one from the other?"

If you know a way in which it's possible to change our situation here, by all means, please go ahead and let me know, but I don't see a way and therefore, I'd much rather change the things that need changing here and make the best of my time, hallucination or not. If you want to keep banging your head against a wall, I won't stop you. In all honesty, though, I'd much prefer to have you back as an officer on the force.

Here's my main issue: In how far can I trust you to do your work to the best of your abilities if your idea of this place lends itself too well to apathy and fatalism?

How far you can trust me?

I don't let personal feelings interfere with my job, Cameron.

Right now? Yes, I realise that.
