Part 12B/12B

“Noooo.” Sandy howled, arms tightly wrapped around her cramping stomach. Wetness spilled out between her legs. The smell of coppery blood filled the air. She was losing the pup. She cried out once more and cursed her stupidity in believing the humans. She moaned as another wave of pain coursed through her body. The gas had entered her system and was killing the innocent pup that was growing inside her body.

She watched the humans walking into the field. Relentlessly they used their weapons to kill the helpless, unconscious werewolves at their feet. Some of the humans used their assault rifles while others used wicked-looking machetes. She tried to crawl away but each movement caused more pain as blood continued to leak out of her body.

Her attempts drew the attention to one of the hunters. He was a tall black shadow with a malevolent smile on his face. She whimpered in fear, trying to scramble backwards as he stalked closer to her.

She suddenly realized the full impact of her actions. She had not only led the humans to their most sacred land, but she had endangered the entire pack.

“Come here, little wolfie. Wouldn’t your blood staining my blade be a beautiful sight?” The man jeered before raising the machete over his head.

Sandy cried out, throwing her arms over her head. Instead of feeling the cold bite of the razor-sharp blade slicing through her neck, she gasped as the man was forcibly thrown backwards.

“Not so fast, scum ball. Her death is not for you to decide.” Morgan growled at his old partner. He had grabbed the man and attempted to push him away from Sandy. However Brown once again surprised him by his strength.

The human gave him a vicious smile and sneered, “Surprised? Haven’t you figure out why they called us the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse? We are special.”

“Gotcha….special like retarded …or demented. No need to elaborate.” Morgan taunted.

“That’s what I missed about you, Dionysus. You are too stupid to realize when you’ve lost.”

“Hey…at least I don’t have a face like you. I’ll take stupidity over ugly any day of the week.”

“You fucker!” Nosoi roared before swinging his blade toward Morgan. A lightning fast form jumped on his back, wrestling with him for control of the machete.

“Stay away from my baby!” Bieber growled before he was elbowed in the face. The young alpha fell to the ground, blood gushing from his broken nose. Brown ripped out his Glock that was strapped to his thigh and shot the young werewolf in the chest.

“Justin!” Morgan yelled.

Jensen fought to stay conscious. He could feel the pull of the moon calling him to transform. But he resisted the urge. He gripped Jared tighter against him. The familiar scent of his mate renewed his determination to stay awake. A black shadowed loomed over him.

“I will fucking kill you for what you did. If not in this life then the next!” Jensen menacingly snarled. His green eyes glared up at the face, remembering the features of his murderer.

“Jensen. I finally found you.” Urban uttered with deep reverence in his voice. He leaned down and shoved Jared away from Jensen. The hunter was unable to hold on to his mate. He balefully glowered at the man leaning over him.

“You must be Karl Urban. What the Hell do you want with me?”

“You were promised to me years. The agency kept us apart for your own protection. They didn’t want to risk us being together on dangerous missions where our enemies could eliminate us in one fell swoop. Therefore they kept us apart, with a promise that we would be united one day. Today is that day.”

“You still haven’t told me what you want of me.” Jensen replied, his right hand slowly moving toward his back where his knife was hidden. Without the soothing presence of Jared by his side, he could feel the urge to shift increase a hundredfold. The bones in his chest had begun to break in order to reform into another larger shape.

“You are my soul mate.” The tall dark-haired man proclaimed to the shocked hunter.

Despair and fear filled the injured betas and alphas in the clearing as they helplessly lay on the ground, waiting to be slaughtered by the crazed humans that invaded their homeland. Some whimpered, too weakened to make any other movements while others prayed for Mother Luna to save them.

Suddenly the sweet scent of omega filled the air and then rapid gunfire rang out. A hailstorm of bullets was aimed directly at the humans, fatally killing two of the hunters. The remaining humans screamed out in fury and rage before they dodged for covered as the omegas continued to use firepower to drive the humans away from the wounded pack and into the cover of the trees in the forest.

The omegas stood proudly, holding their ground as they expertly continued to discharge their rifles onto the enemies.

“Ian, Katie, stay here. Secure the perimeter and ensure that they do not gain a foothold. Kristen, you are with me.” The young handsome omega called out to his unit.

“Matt, if you run into trouble…”

“I’ll use my radio and call for backup if needed. Guard the pack. Their safety is in your hands.”

“Affirmative. May Mother Luna smile down on you in your hunting expedition.” Ian replied. The two omegas nodded to Ian and Katie before silently stalking toward the shadowed forest.

The shunned betas and alphas watched the events unfolding in front of their very eyes. They could not believe how accurate and deadly the skills were that the omegas had displayed. It also unnerved them to see who they considered the weakest members in their family being able to expertly handle human weapons. It was generally considered taboo and underneath their dignity for werewolves to utilize human weapons. Many had never picked up a gun, much less used one. But after seeing how effective the weapons were in their weakened state toward an enemy, their attitude greatly shifted.

A grudging respect for the omegas had also developed due to their heroic, life-saving actions. They were amazed at the dedication and loyalty the omegas had displayed toward the pack despite the harsh and unforgiveable treatment they had given the omegas prior to Jensen’s arrival. It was a testament to the omegas’ love and devotion to the pack that had turned its back on them.

A dark malicious shadow appeared behind one of the slender omegas that was surveying the area for hidden threats.

“Ian! Look out!” Katie screamed.

“What?” Ian asked, spinning around. But it was too late, a silver blade sliced through his throat, ripping through his flesh, tissue and bones. Rivers of dark blood gushed from the gaping wound. The handsome fighting omega grabbed the knife at his side and brutally stabbed the sharp blade into his attacker’s gut. He smiled in his murderer’s face as he twisted the knife. Blood continued to stream down his throat, soaking his shirt but he continued to grin. He knew his last act on earth was to bring his murderer with him into the afterlife and at the same time saving the pack from a deranged killer.

“What? You sure you got the right person? You know I’m a guy right? Shouldn’t your soul mate be a girl? And insane like you too?” Jensen snarked.

“We are special, Jensen. There are only a few of us left in this world. Not many have survived the procedure. Those that have, died quickly, their bodies having been burnt out. I am one of the few survivors of program.” Urban explained, belief dark in his eyes.

“What program?”

“The program that Dr. Danneel Harris had worked on. She created genetically modified human soldiers. She was trying to create human hunters that had the strength and power of werewolves but remained human. Many soldiers that had undergone her experiments died. It was discovered that only humans that had the rare mutant gene immune to LPV virus could survive the procedure. Even then their survival rate was 5% after the first two years of the program.”

“Shit. What does this have to do with me? I never underwent any program.”

“Don’t lie to me, Jensen.”

“I’m not lying.”

“Silence! You will stop denying the truth! She told me about you. You were her inspiration for the program. You see the soldiers that were changed had the instincts of werewolves. We had the blood lust, taste for destruction and death. We also had the biological imperative to mate. The program didn’t just change our bodies, but also our minds as well. Some became insane, uncontrollable killing monsters. They had to be put down like dogs.

I was one of the first in the program. But all the soldiers in the unit that started with me all died, killed either by their organs shutting down or their minds breaking apart. It was at best a two year survival period. Despite this low success rate, they kept bringing more soldiers into the program. The soldiers were faster than normal humans, but still weaker than werewolves. But the idea that they were getting closer to creating a hunter whose strength could be equal to that of werewolf was too enticing to give up.”

“Why was the agency obsessed with creating a super soldier? They were not at war with the werewolves.” Jensen asked. Behind his back his hand finally gripped the steel hilt of his knife.

“The ultimate power was in the hands the werewolf nation. Our government was uncomfortable with that tactic. At any moment, we were vulnerable to the whims of the mongrel monsters. The only way to combat this fear was the creation of a new super soldier race.”

“But didn’t you just tell me the race was full of psychotic killers? Way for the top secret government program to be successful.”

“You are insulting yourself since you were part of the same program.” Karl growled. He dropped on his knees and leaned his body over his handsome prey.

Jensen remained expressionless. He forced his body not to shudder at the close proximity of the dangerous creature that was hovering mere inches above him. He replied, “Here’s where you are wrong, buddy. I was never in any program. I do have the mutant gene, not going to lie. But I was never experimented on.”

Urban grabbed Jensen’s throat, brown eyes clashed with green ones. He snarled, “What did I tell you about lying to me? You didn’t think I had you checked out? When I was gutting Harris, she revealed her secret to me. It was a bad time for me. I was still adjusting to the change. All my brothers had died and I had the constant craving for blood and guts. The seductive taste was driving me insane. I was tired of fighting against the urges. And when my brothers were all gone, I started to lose myself.

I didn’t understand why I was the lone survivor. I needed someone, which puzzled me since I never needed anyone in my life. Harris explained to me that it was the biological drive of werewolves to seek their mates. But I’m not a fucking werewolf!” Urban snapped.

Jensen remained silent. He knew that werewolves were social creatures. They lived inside a tightly structured pack hierarchy. Werewolves were never kept in isolation for long periods of time. Being the lone survivor of the program in his unit meant that Urban was kept in seclusion. Coupled with the bloodthirsty cravings of a werewolf without the natural control of the spirit wolf, it would have driven Urban mad.

“Then the good doctor told me about you when I was cutting her insides out. She explained to me that I was not the only successful candidate in the program. There was another that was destined to be my equal in every way. You were meant for me, Jensen. You are my soul mate, my other half. You proved this every time you came back from impossible missions, successful against all the odds. You are my worthy partner.”

“Yeah….about that…” Jensen replied before slashing his hidden blade in an upward motion toward Urban’s neck. The human blocked his attack but was unprepared for Jensen kicking out his legs and tossing the hunter over his head. Jensen struggled to his feet. He felt his bones breaking inside his body. His vision was blurry from the pain and nausea. His heart pounded heavily in his chest. But he bit his lips hard to keep from crying out in pain. The taste of coppery blood filled his mouth. Urban stood a few feet away from him with his right hand bloody from blocking Jensen’s knife.

“You shouldn’t have done that, Pluto.”

“Aww what’s wrong? Can’t handle a little blood when it’s your own? Here’s something you need to know. I’m not your goddamn soul mate. Not in this lifetime or the next. I like people who are not insane, murderous monsters.”

“Do not pretend that you were not the same as me, Pluto. You have killed just as many as I have. Our destinies have been linked through the agency’s history.”

Jensen narrowed his eyes and assessingly said, “Mars…”

“Yes, that is my code name.”

“The time has come for your particular legacy to die. As will you. Painfully.”

+++++++

“You fucking bastard!” Morgan roared at Brown. He charged at the human, slamming his shoulder directly into the hunter’s gut, lifting him in the air, before knocking him into the ground several feet away from the bleeding young alpha. Brown leaped to his feet, glaring at the omega. He whipped out two razor sharp daggers, holding a blade in each hand while advancing toward the wary omega.

Morgan bared his teeth in a grim smile. He pulled out two small katanas that were Jensen’s. He gripped the familiar blades in his hands, never taking his eyes away from the predator before him.

“You are nothing but a transmuted freak that I’m going to put down!” Brown hissed.

“Don’t forget to add that this mutant freak is going to kill your ass!” Morgan roared before charging toward the human. Silver clashed against steel blades as the opponents viciously battled against each other.

Hand to hand combat was not Morgan’s best technique. However each morning, Jensen made all the omegas train in order to increase their agility, endurance and enhance their knowledge of human fighting skills. He used Morgan as the guinea pig for active demonstrations. As a result, the older omega was confident in his ability to be able to take down one of the notorious Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

He wove, struck, twisted, and danced away from Brown’s attacks. His muscles strained each time his blade collided with the human’s silver metal. The ex-seaman was amazed at how strong the hunter was in comparison to his own werewolf strength.

“Wondering how I am matching you in strength are you, freak?” Brown sneered at him before trying to jab JD in the face with his blade. The older omega jumped backwards, narrowly missing the strike.

“Not really. Actually was getting bored.” Morgan retorted.

“I am Nosoi. I bring pestilence to your people until you are no more. As you grow weaker, I grow stronger. I’m going to enjoy ripping your intestines out of your body while you scream.” Brown menaced before he deviously threw sand in Morgan’s face, blinding his eyes.

The omega grunted with pain, momentarily distracted by the particles piercing into his sensitive eyes. Brown used Morgan’s distraction to his advantage. He shoved the silver blade into the omega’s lower abdomen, twisting the dagger before yanking it out. A river of blood immediately gushed forth, soaking Morgan’s shirt and pants.

Morgan cried out, stumbling backwards. His left hand dropped one of the katanas to the ground. He pressed against the gaping, bleeding wound, trying to staunch the flow of blood. His eyes burned from the sand still present as he blearily stared at his deceitful enemy.

“You fucking bastard. You are not following the hunter’s code!” Morgan growled.

“Since there’s no hunter in front of me, I don’t need to follow the rules of conduct. I only see a monster and I will treat it as such!” The human sneered.

“You are right. There is no hunter in front of me. Only a monster.” The omega replied before he dropped to his knees, jerking loose the hidden gun strapped to his ankle and shot the sadistic man in the chest with a bullet designed to pierce body armor.

“Fuck…” Brown uttered, astonishment on his face. He gasped in shock before dropping his blades, and momentarily clutched at his blood-covered chest before collapsing onto the grassy field.

Morgan tiredly got to his feet and staggered toward the hunter. He stood over the corpse and unloaded the entire clip of his Glock into the man’s chest, concentrating on the heart area. He then decapitated him with his katana. He instinctively knew that Brown was not a typical human. Therefore Morgan erred on the side of caution. Destroying the heart and removing the head was a full-proof method of ensuring the evil carcass remained dead.

Morgan looked up and scanned the field for Jensen. The area was no longer clouded with the toxic gas. His trembling hands covered his bleeding injury as he continued to look for his friend. He then spotted Jensen who seemed to be in a struggle with another man.

“Jensen!” Morgan cried out. He weakly attempted to stride toward his Beta but instead collapsed to the ground, unconscious. Dark blood steadily streamed out from his wound, saturating the ground in a crimson pool.

“You are mine!” Urban yelled, launching himself at Jensen. The hunter sidestepped the man, trying desperately to remain out of his reach. He fought to stay on his feet as his vision began to blur. A fine sheen of sweat covered his body. His body frantically wanted to shift as he struggled to maintain his control against the instinct of the werewolf.

“Doesn’t matter how many times you scream, it still doesn’t make it true. I will never belong to you…” Jensen wheezed, his heart beating rapidly in his chest.

“What’s wrong with you? Why are you shaking like that?” Karl questioned suspiciously.

Jensen knew that if Urban discovered that he was now a werewolf, the man would become even more dangerously unpredictable. But Jensen never ran from a fight before. Nor have he ever been ashamed of himself.

“The gas is making me sick.”

“Impossible. The gas only affects werewolves, not humans.”

“As I said before, the gas is making me sick.”

Karl carefully looked at him, finally noting the almost unnatural beauty of the glowing neon green eyes.

“You can’t be a fucking werewolf! We are immune to the LPV virus! Nor can my soul mate be a werewolf!” Urban snarled.

“Guess I’m a special case…” Jensen rasped out before doubling over, clutching at his stomach.

“Motherfucker….” He breathed before collapsing to his knees, his ears deaf to all sounds but the rapid loud beating of his thumping heart racing inside his chest. His fingernails began to lengthen, slowly becoming claws. The bright white of the moon shone directly on him, casting his shadow. Through his harsh panting and blurry vision, his shadow appeared to be that of a wolf.

He coughed. Bright red blood stained his fingers. Jensen fought to push back the wolf that was threatening to consume him. His body throbbed, his skin burned with the jagged edges of broken bones digging into his flesh. He knew that without Jared’s presence, if he shifted, he would die. He was not ready to leave his family. His mate.

“Ahhhh!” He howled when the bones in his ribs torn through his torso. He closed his eyes and tried not to focus on the rippling agony he was feeling. Instead he concentrated on the feelings that Jared invoked in him. With each new wave of pain washing through his body, he remembered the memories of his time with his mate. Vivid feelings of comfort, contentment, and peace filled his mind. The mind numbing pain slowly receded as Jensen felt the phantom presence of his mate by his side.

Calmness spread through his body, slowing down the transformation. With each memory, Jensen could feel his control returning to him. The bones in his ribcage gradually shortened into a more human-sized shape. The skin on his chest was still torn and bloody, but the bones had reformed into their original size.

“It is true. You are a fucking monster now.” Urban uttered. Grief, rage, and anguish blatantly evident in his voice.

Alarm bells were ringing in Jensen’s head. He looked up from his crouched position on the ground. He was too weak to move, yet alone be able to defend himself against the insanity of the human that loomed in front of him.

“I’m going to put you out of your misery. I should have come for you all those years ago instead of waiting. I should have never listened to those goddamn fucking bureaucrats from the agency! I swear that I will kill those responsible for this atrocity. The ground will be soaked with blood for this unforgivable act.” Urban vowed, pulling out the Glock that was strapped into his thigh holster.

“I asked for it.” Jensen quietly proclaimed, his green eyes glowing neon bright in the darkness of the night.

“What?!” Karl exclaimed in disbelief.

“This. I asked to be turned so that I can be with my mate. You fucking son of a bitch.” Jensen snarled.

“Who the Hell is your fucking mate?!” Urban snarled.

“I am.” Jared growled from behind the human before slashing the man’s throat with his razor sharp claws.

+++++++

Matt pointed the AK-47 rifle in front of him as he silently walked through woods searching for the human hunter that had attacked his pack. He and Kristen had separated in order to cover more ground. He remembered Jensen explicitly ordering them never to separate, that they were stronger and safer together. But desperate times call for desperate measures.

He heard the loud shuffling sound of an intense struggle to his far left side close-by in the forest. His gut was screaming that Kristen was in trouble.

“Shit!” He cursed before dashing off into the direction of the sound.

When he came upon the bloody scene, his instincts as a hunter kicked in. He raised his rifle and aimed at his target. One deadly bullet entered and exited the skull of the human, spraying blood and gray matter. The man dropped to the ground, dead before his body touched the forest floor.

“Kristen…..” Matt moaned, dropping his rifle. He ran to his fallen sister. Her body covered in blood and open wounds from a knife. She had defensive marks on her body. They were physical indications that she heavily fought her attacker to the end. Since her injuries were not healing, Matt knew that the man had used a silver blade to inflict the life-threatening wounds.

His shaking hands gently caressed her pale face. There were too many open wounds for him to attempt to staunch the bleeding. Blood began to drench his clothes as he clutched her still body against him. He gently rocked her, whispering words of comfort. Her breathing began to slow. He knew the end was near.

He looked up into the bright full moon and cried out for salvation.

“JENSEN!”

+++++++

With his torn throat, Urban twisted around and faced the furious, handsome Alpha of all werewolves. Despite the massive bleeding from the gash, there were already signs of fast healing; the skin knitting together, forming a whole tissue once more. Jared narrowed his eyes, reassessing his enemy with the new information that he had obtained with the observation.

“Not entirety human.” Jared muttered. He moved until he stood directly in front of Jensen, blocking the hunter from Urban’s sight. Although he visibly did not show any weaknesses, he was still physically affected from the toxic gas.

“Get away from him!” Karl hissed; infuriated that the werewolf had dared to claim his soul mate as his own.

The Alpha smiled and replied, “You are welcome to try.”

Those words spurred the man forward. He whipped out a sharp machete and lunged toward the werewolf. Jared met his attack, his clawed fists wrapped around the human’s wrists while his elongated fangs snapped at his foe’s neck. He had shifted into a shape that was between werewolf and human form.

Jensen powerlessly watched the struggle, still unable to move. The restless energy of the wolf came back full force. It wanted to help its mate, an emotion that Jensen deeply understood. Once again the bones in his body began to break, forcing him to combat the biological imperative to transform. He then heard the voices of his omegas, calling out to him. His eyes flashed neon-green bright.

Jared gripped the strong wrists in his hands, crushing the bones. Urban grunted in pain but still had managed to avoid his neck from being ripped apart by the werewolf’s massive canines. He kicked at the Alpha’s stomach and groin region, hoping to break free from his hold. In a last ditch effort, he twisted around and kicked Jensen in the stomach, causing Jared to roar in murderous rage. The werewolf immediately grabbed Urban and tossed him several feet away. He then dropped to his knees to inspect his mate.

“I’m alright. Go kill his ass.” Jensen groused, embarrassed to have Jared stop his fight over him. He was ashamed of how weak and useless he had become. But instead of listening to him, Jared remained hovering at his side. His large familiar hands gently caressed and probed Jensen’s chest, growling at the discovery of new bruises and torn flesh.

“You must be careful, my Mate. If Jared sees any more injuries on your pale beautiful skin, I will not be able to control his crazed blood lust.”

“Don’t worry about me, Sam. I’ll be alright. Just focus on taking that asshole down.” Jensen grumbled, turning his heated cheek in Jared’s large warm palm that was holding his face.

“You must be careful, my little hunter. You are my moon. What is a werewolf without the moon calling his soul?” Jared muttered. He leaned down and laid wet, warm kisses along Jensen’s neck.

Jensen closed his eyes and moaned, enjoying the loving attention his lover was bestowing upon him. He reluctantly pushed Jared away, glaring at his mate.

“Go.” He ordered with a soft smile on his lips.

“Always work with you…” Jared teased before getting up. The moment he stood up, a bullet slammed into him, his blood sprayed on Jensen’s shocked face.

“JARED!” Jensen cried out. But his mate was already gone. In the blink of an eye the Alpha had run with super speed to where the stunned Urban was still holding the gun in his hands. Loosing a loud snarl Jared ripped the rifle away and immediately had both claw tipped hands wrapped around the man’s throat. With barely a twist of his powerful wrists he easily snapped the hunter’s neck. With his claws still embedded in Urban’s neck, he detached the head from the body. The man’s headless corpse slumped noiselessly to the ground.

Jared was visibly panting. Sweat drenched the back of his tattered shirt plastering the fabric to his hard muscular body. He slowly turned around to face his mate. The werewolf was completely covered with blood. However a deep dark stain that was centered in the middle of his chest was becoming wetter and even darker in the bright moonlight and quickly spreading. Amber eyes receded to multi-colored ones as he gazed at his lover for the final time.

“Jensen….” The Alpha muttered before closing his eyes and collapsing to the ground.

“NO!” Jensen screamed. Adrenaline pumped into his body, giving him the necessary strength to crawl toward his mate. The few minutes that it took for Jensen to reach Jared felt like an eternity for him. His trembling hands caressed the Alpha’s still, pale face.

“Jared….you can’t leave me….” Jensen whispered, tears dripping down his cheeks, onto his lover’s face. But the Alpha was silent. His heart beats grew gradually slower. Death was waiting for him.

All his life, Jensen had fought to remain alone. He learned from an early age never to rely on anyone but himself. Others had proven they would only disappoint and betray him. As a result of the painful lessons he’d learned, he only depended on himself. Unknowingly, he had built a fortified emotional wall, not letting anyone get close to him. The ice around his heart had begun to thaw when he met his best friend, Morgan. The loud, brash older man refused to leave Jensen alone until he became firmly anchored to him. But still, Jensen did not fully allow himself to be reliant on the man.

It was not until Jared came barging into his life, forcing a place in his heart, that he realized how lonely he had become. Jared forced him into living again when it felt like he had been asleep for years. He made him feel raw powerful emotions that breathed life into the colorless, emotionless world that he had inadvertently created for himself. Along the way, Jensen became part of a family, something he had desperately wanted to avoid.

It wasn’t just Jared and Morgan that had changed him but also the omegas. They taught him the meaning of what true strength entailed. Despite constant bad treatment by the very people that called them family, the omegas had continued to stay loyal and devoted to the pack. They forgave the werewolves that hurt them frequently. Instead of giving up, the omegas strived to earn respect and acceptance from the very members that should have cherished and protected them. He taught them they didn’t need anyone’s approval but their own. And they taught him the meaning of family.

Through their shared bonds, Jensen could feel tentacles of their fear, distress, and grief wrapped around him. He clutched Jared’s still body close to his chest and closed his weary, wet eyes. Sorrow, regret and the bitter taste of defeat filled him. He once again had failed the very people he had sworn to protect.

His mind raced to find a solution to an impossible situation. He then remembered Traci’s words.

“You hold the power of death in your hands.”

He opened his eyes and stared up into the bright full moon. Calmness swept through him. He stopped struggling against the natural instinct of his body from shifting into his wolf form. He was no longer afraid of his death… for he was Death.

He raised his quickly forming snout and howled.

“Mother Luna!”

+++++++

“You finally figure it out. Took you long enough, sugar,” Traci purred at him.

Jensen swung around, momentarily disorientated. He remained in his human shape, standing near the bank of the Christo waterfalls.

“How did I get here? Is this in my head?” He asked, keeping his eyes on her at all times. She was still an unknown entity and therefore unpredictable.

“I assure you this is very much real. Have you made your judgment yet?”

“Yes. There are issues within the pack. The omegas are being treated better. There are still those that believe in the old prejudiced system. But in time they will learn of the new order. Or they will feel my wrath.”

“Then they have forgotten their lesson from the past! Foolish idiots! They will die for this disgrace!” Traci snarled, her eyes becoming a light crystal green.

“That is not your decision. It is mine. They are learning… creating a new history. And this history will be passed down to the next generation.”

Traci smiled and replied, “You are correct my son. This is your decision to make. Although I do not agree with your choice, I will stand aside. Come, it is time for us to leave.”

“What do you mean ‘leave’? I’m staying.”

“Jensen, you are my son. It is always your place to rule by my side in our kingdom.”

“I’m not leaving Jared.” Jensen snarled, his eyes flashing neon bright.

“He is mortal. He cannot come with us. Soon he will pass beyond the borders that I cannot reach.”

“I am not leaving him! Nor will I leave the pack when they need me the most.”

“You do not have a choice, my son,” Traci said gently.

“Yes, I do. My gift is death. I will not let death come and take away my mate. Or steal away my pack!”

“Do not do this, son. Nature is all about balance. Do you know what you must give for them to live?”

“I don’t care!”

“You should! You will give up your immortality, your powers, and your right to be my heir! All for a pack of mindless dogs that still fight among themselves! Think carefully of this, Jensen. Once you make this decision, it cannot be unmade. Not even by me.”

Jensen replied softly, “I know, Mother.”

Sadness and acceptance filled Traci’s eyes. She said, “Then this will be our last conversation. I do not know if I will be able to see your soul again, my beautiful son. Nor is it a guarantee that this will work. Many souls are on the verge of death. If you give up your essence, I don’t know if that would be enough to bring them all back. And you may not survive the exchange.”

“It’s a risk I’m willing to take.”

“I know your heart. Come….embrace your mother for one last time.”

Jensen step forward and hugged the woman. He sensed the pain he had caused her by his decision but he had no regrets. If it meant giving up his life to save everyone that he loved, he would do it a hundred times over again.

“Goodbye, Jensen” were the last words the hunter heard before darkness descended upon him.

The Death Chronicles: Hunger, Hunger, Let me Lose myself in You

“Holy Shit balls of fire….is that fucking asshole giving you another set of knives? What does he have, a blade fetish?” Justin complained to Morgan as he watched the man caress the sharp edge of the dagger set.

“Don’t be jealous because the only thing you can give him are your lameass songs.” Matt called out.

“Don’t listen to him, Justin. You also show up naked from time to time. Your hot body totally beats out boring knives any day of the week,” Kristen said, winking at the teenage alpha as she walked past them toward the kitchen.

“How many times do I have to tell you, brat? I’m not dating you. And if Misha wants to woo me with expensive gifts then more the merrier for me.”

“Sounding like a hooker there, bud.”

“Shut up, Matt.” Morgan growled, glowering at the smiling omega.

“This is sad….the oldest omega here is getting the most attention from the alphas and the betas. Sure one is a teenager and barely out of diapers and the other one smells weird, but still... He is getting more action than I am!” Elijah whined.

“I still don’t understand why you’re staying with us when you’re not even an omega! And Misha does not smell. It’s from all the aseptic chemicals he works with as a doctor!” Morgan retorted defensively. He jabbed Justin in the stomach when the young werewolf began to snigger.

“Don’t be mean to my boyfriend or someone will wake up bald!” Katie mockingly threated from across the room. She was sitting at a desk doing her homework for her college courses.

Justin studied the older omega. He said, “I don’t think you look good bald. You better apologize. Plus I like some hair to hold on to when I’m ravishing your mouth.”

Morgan blinked owlishly at the arrogant alpha. He snapped, “That’s it. I’m dating Misha.”

“Don’t be that way, baby! You know you are always beautiful to me….”

“You just said I don’t look good bald!”

“I don’t have to see your bald head if we turn off the lights.”

“Get out!”

“Baby…”

“Out!”

After sufficient time groveling on his knees, Morgan allowed Justin back inside the den much to the amusement of the other occupants in the room. The teenager was currently sitting on the couch rubbing Morgan’s feet tenderly. His entire focus was on eliciting arousing responses with his touch but instead he caused ticklish sensations, which made the older omega laugh several times.

Morgan grudgingly grinned at the alpha. The months since the fateful night the hunters had attacked, Justin refused to leave his side. After recovering from his gunshot wounds, the young alpha spent his nights sleeping outside the omega den. He was determined to protect Morgan from any dangers. Katie had taken pity on him during the winter season and allowed him inside the den at night. He was ordered to sleep on the sofa but most mornings Morgan woke with the young teenager wrapped around him. Justin would sneak into his bed once he felt asleep. No matter how many times Morgan yelled and threatened to beat him up, he always end up forgiving the annoying and persistent alpha. He knew the kid was too young for him but something inside him felt whole and safe when the alpha was nearby.

“Damned hormones...” JD grumbled.

“What was that, baby?” Justin asked, his brown eyes perked up when his honey made a sound.

“Nothing. Can you get me some food? I’m hungry.”

“Okay, baby. Let your alpha take care of you.” Justin replied. He quickly stole a kiss from Morgan’s lips before dashing off into the kitchen, leaving behind a string of curses from his honey.

“Dang it! You are not my alpha! And stop stealing kisses! Brat!”

“You are not fooling anyone you know.” Kristen said. She sat next to him on the adjacent loveseat.

“Are you spying on me?!”

“No. I’m watching television. But since you are providing better entertainment than what I’m watching on the screen, then I’m definitely going to watch you and your drama.”

Morgan groaned. He covered his embarrassed, red face with his hands.

“You know I almost died a few months ago. So did Justin. He probably learned just like I did not to take life for granted. It doesn’t matter what other people think. If you love him….”

“I’m not in love with him!” Morgan cut in. He was quickly silent when he noticed Kristen glaring at him.

“As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted. Life is short. The world that we live in is getting more dangerous by the minute. The human governments are close to declaring war on us. Any moment we could die. Do you want to live your life with regrets? I see the way you both look at each other. Just think about it.”

“Okay…”

“Okay you will think about it? Or okay shut up?”

“I don’t want to disappoint him.”

“Who? Jensen? He wouldn’t care. He would want you to be happy.”

“You don’t know that! He always makes fun of Justin’s crush on me. And if he thinks I might like Justin back….”

“Morgan, Jensen was willing to give up his life for us. He nearly died! He’s not going to care if you have a hard-on for a brat. He just wants you to be happy.”

Morgan remained silent, thinking about Kristen’s words. What most of the pack didn’t know was just how much Jensen had given up for them. Morgan knew that the hunter gave up his immortality and a chance at becoming a god for them. He also knew that his friend never regretted it for a minute and would happily do it again in a heartbeat.

Justin came striding toward him. The grinning alpha had a plate loaded with food and glass of milk. He sat down close to the omega, presenting the items for the man to inspect. Morgan took a drink from the glass, trying to calm his racing heart.

“Alright….I’ll date you. But only after you graduate high school.”

“What? Really? Oh baby, you’ve made me the happiest alpha alive now!” Bieber shouted before jumping on Morgan and raining kisses down on his face.

“Brat, I told you after graduation! Stop groping me!”

“Baby…you so irresistible. I just want to lose myself in you! I can’t wait to stake my claim!”

“No one said anything about claiming!”

“That’s what dating is all about, baby. I plan to make you my mate.”

“WHAT?! Now wait a goddamned minute here. And stop sticking your hand down my pants! Didn’t your parents teach you to respect other people’s stuff….”

Chad stood on the edge of the Christo waterfalls and looked down. The perch allowed him an overview of part of the Padalecki pack land. Patrol had increased since the fateful night of the hunters’ invasion. Nearly half of the pack had died from the poisonous gas. The others that had survived had spent months recovering from the toxic reactions.

He was one of the few that had been away on patrol that fateful night and so did not suffer from any side effects. That also meant that most of the burden for current patrol duty fell on his shoulders. Jensen and the omegas had begun training the guards on using human weapons and fighting styles. With a potential human war coming, the fear was that the federal government would use the gas bombs again. Therefore they had to prepare for every single possibility. He twisted his head when he heard Matt silently run up to him.

Since the omegas had also avoided the gas, they were in perfect health. After the attacks, the pack had grown to respect and accept the omegas as full and equal members of the family. They knew that the omegas were responsible for saving their lives. The attitudes and treatment towards the omegas changed. Any that dared oppose the new and greatly improved treatment of the omegas were severely dealt with by Jensen. He was still extremely protective of his little band of ‘hunters’.

Jensen also ordered omegas to be included as part of the patrol rotation. He did not want any segregation within the pack. Therefore the omegas were allowed to shift with the pack during the full moon. Any young werewolves that were unable to control themselves from attacking the omegas due to the pheromones they released during the full moon shift were locked up in a den for everyone’s safety.

A streak of white caught Chad’s attention. In the distance, one completely white wolf ran through a clearing. It was closely followed by another slightly larger black wolf. The two wolves stopped near the bank of the falls. They played with each other, nipping and nuzzling.

Suddenly the white wolf looked up and stared directly at him. Even in the distance Chad could see it had bright, neon green eyes. It nodded at him before twisting around and gently nipping at the black wolf before dashing off into the woods. The black wolf turned its head and glared at Chad before chasing after its mate.

“You know he is totally going to beat your ass for spying on them,” Matt said.

“He’s not going to beat my ass over that. He’s going to beat my ass for causing Jensen to run off therefore preventing him from getting laid,” Chad moaned.

“Oh you’re right. Come on, dude. Let’s do a final sweep and I’ll help you find a hiding spot. Hopefully he’ll forget about it in a few days….”

“Few days?! You really think I’ll have to be in hiding for that long?”

“Yup.”

“Shit….”

+++++++

“My little moon… please let me love you with my giant cock.”

“Seriously, if these are your best lines I have no idea how you ever get laid,” Jensen groused. He lay naked and sated on the grassy field. His eyes flashed neon bright at the soft kisses that his equally naked mate was leaving along his chest.

“I have a very easy mate. He spreads his legs for me all the time.” Jared replied before sucking on Jensen’s right nipple. His massive hand wrapped around the hunter’s cock, stroking it to aching fullness.

Despite the arousing sensation, Jensen gripped the Alpha’s silky hair and yanked hard on it causing Jared to grunt out in pain.

“You better reword that statement.” He growled.

“My mate is easy. Easy to love, to trust, and lose myself in. He gives me everything that I ask and everything I need. He blesses me with things I didn’t even realize I needed. He is my moon. He calms my soul and completes my wolf brother. He is mine as I am his.”

“Jared….” Jensen murmured, feelings of love overwhelmed him.

“Have you seen him? Because he is not around here….” Jared teased.

Jensen scowled at him. He retorted, “That’s it. Get your hand off my cock. You are not getting any sex for two days.”

“Oh come on, Jensen. I was joking.”

“Ha-ha. Very funny. Here’s something else that’s funny. No sex for three days!”

“Come on, little moon. That would mean no sex for you as well.”

“Fine. Then it’s no sex for the rest of the night, you annoying love of my life idiot.”

“Jensen…….” Jared whined.

“Do you understand your orders, sir?”

“Yes, I’m not stupid,” an arrogant voice snapped at the colonel.

“Would you please recite them to me again then, sir, just to make me feel better?”

“Retrieval of the target. Preferably alive. But …accidents happen.”

“Sir, our orders are clear. We must ensure the survival of….”

“Don’t get your panties in a twist. I don’t plan on killing him. I want to keep him alive for a very long time.”

The colonel tried not to shiver at the dark expression on the man’s face. He sputtered out, “We plan to leave within the hour. Would you be ready by then, Limos?”

Jason Momoa looked up at the colonel and a wicked smile on flashed across his handsome face. He said, “I’m ready to bring Pluto home as quickly as possible. I plan to feast on him. I’m very, very hungry…..”

Notes and Acknowledgements

Author’s Note 1: Many thanks to my good friend, oldbatj. I could go on the many ways of what an incredible beta she was throughout this story but I would run out of accolades and space. With her magical touch, she makes all my stories better, richer, and fuller. But it’s the constant belief, support, and friendship she has given me that inspire me to keep writing and improving. Thank you my dear, you have no idea how much you mean to a self-doubting writer like me…..~hugs~

Author’s Note 2: And I must express my gratitude to you, the readers that continue to read and leave generous, motivating, comments for me. Without your enthusiasm, I would have stopped writing long ago. Your support gives me the courage and inspiration to keep on writing and sharing. Thank you so much for that. Your words are like burst of sunlight on a cold, cloudy, misty day.

Author’s Note 3: I must thank dragynville for the beautiful banner! This is exactly the Jensen and Jared in my head! Along with their respectively wolf forms. Beautiful! Thank you so much, hon!

Author’s Note 4: I ended the Hunter Chronicles when Jensen made the ultimate sacrifice for Jared and the Pack. He also gave up the last illusion he had of himself as a typical human hunter in addition to his immorality and all of his powers….or so he thought. In reality when he awakened, it offshoots into his new journey. Most of his powers are gone; it was the price he paid for saving some of his pack members. However he still has a few powers left that he will need for the new enemies that he will face. Not to mention the coming war with the humans. Hence the next saga of the story would be his journey as Death. As for Limos….. I always pictured the last scene of the story to be Limos aka Jason Momoa’s devilish smile before the screen blackout and the credits roll.

There will be NO sequel to the Hunter Chronicles….or so I thought. You, my friends, are very lucky that oldbatj’s words are like the bible to me. She proclaimed that the story is unfinished and you might hunt me down and she might lead the way….lol.

Author’s Note 5: I have too many ideas running through my mind. There is another story that’s captured my imagination and won’t let go for the past two months. I actually started to work on it a few weeks ago but stopped myself from getting distracted. It’s about mobsters and how one decision caused a snowball effects. Stay tune for a sneak peek that I will post in a few days.

Author’s Note 6: With a heavy yet excited heart, for the last time….let me know what you think of The Hunter Chronicles. Was the ending worthy of the story (I really hope so!). Did it answer most of your questions? Did I jump the shark? You’ll never know. If there is enough interest……I might get inspire to write a sequel based on your comments  So without further ado, if you want to know more, please comment if not, thanks for reading!!

Updated Author’s Note: All storylines and plot points belong to me. Please do not repost the story or parts of the story, use any plot points of the story without expressed permission from the author.
