Funny thing is, when you first posted this, I thought 'adverbs? I've completely missed something.'
Then I was working on a fic that really had to fit line by line with a canon scene. So I got the English edition from the library (only have Dutch one at home) and read and re-read the scene, and finally wrote my bit with the book open in front of me.
Afterwards, my beta said (first time she ever made that remark re. one of my fics): 'take out the adverb here, the tone is clear from the line itself.'
"Now I know what you meant," she said cheerfully, smiling happily at her dear flistie.
