What I thought I sent earlier said that I really hate it when adults act like Tomas did. It's so easy to crush a little kid who is doing something creative. It's why I never assume I know what they're doing. I ask questions and let them tell me what they want me to know.
Blue's emotions are so clear and poignant. Your writing makes it so that, even if you aren't an artist per se, you remember immediately what it feels like to have someone carelessly dismiss something personal. That pain is right there, and you make it so easy to relate to the poor boy.
Bravo on breaking through the writer's block. I wish there was an easy way for me to break through my motivation block. :-/
