[the video feed turns on, but the view is abstracted; there are several dark spots on the image, through which some footsteps can be seen. it looks like Syaoran is holding the device while it's recording]

Well, it looks like I've managed to avoid being shocked this time, doesn't it? I suppose it's good timing, in this case. It's gotten so quiet ( Read more... )

The library, hm? I would be willing to help with the monsters.

...ah, I see. [When the communicator drops.] Perhaps one of those creatures got inside?

[...] I was thinking that might be the case. Although, if it is, then the monsters are becoming increasingly more violent...

--Really? I, well, given the circumstances, I would certainly appreciate more help!

Perhaps... are any of the pages bitten or clawed?

Hm. We can kill or drive out the monsters in the vicinity, but I see no way to keep them from returning?

[a pause]

No...it doesn't seem like it. It looks more like they've been ripped.

Miranda-san said she might be able to help a bit with her powers. Overall, creatures like this normally inhabit buildings that have been abandoned for long periods of time. If the building becomes more regularly-used, they might be disinclined to return, and will --er, I think, at least-- find another place to nest.

Why are all the books destroyed?

I'm not sure yet, to be honest. It looks like the pages were ripped out, but I'm not sure if it was done by monsters or not.

The monsters there must be really hungry if they started eating the books.

Maybe it was a person?

If that's what happened, then they really must be.

To be honest, I would think that's more likely. The pages don't look like they've been torn with teeth or claws.

Ah, he was asking me about how I felt towards the "written word". I suspect he knows who did it.

"Who"... Then I suppose I'm correct in thinking it wasn't monsters that did it.

Any idea what happened?

Not yet. Apparently there is someone that knows who did it, but I've yet to ask them about it.

I know this is going to sound odd, but this is a bit bothersome to me.

Your name. May I have it?

Because what I need is a younger version of Suzaku running around...

..I believe I know the one responsible.

However, I regret to inform you that the destruction was spitefully inflicted on my account.

...So they were only trying to upset you, Genesis-san?

Yes...though I didn't believe they would go far as to destroy something of importance to the city.

It's... Well, the damage wasn't widespread. It's just this area...so it could have been a lot worse than it was.
