The red and yellow flowies are called lanata! I love that flower, and I believe it also comes in shades of purple.

Great pictures!! Disappointed you cant take pictures inside. I wonder if Mrs Winchester didn't want the souls of her ghosts captured...or if it's just to keep the inside from being damaged by flash photography.

Huh. Google would seem to disagree with you... when I search lanata I get some fat dude, and other things that are not that flower. But when I googled it from that post before, it gave me flowers. But I love them too! I love how they have so many different colors in one.

I don't think it has anything to do with Mrs. Winchester or the ghosts. They said something about "copyright", but didn't bother explaining exactly what they meant, so... whatevs. *shrugs*

have you seen http://mysteryhouseguide.com/? it looks like it was written by a former tour guide, and has some neat pictures.

Ooooh, no! That looks interesting.

Found the flowie, you missed an n! It's lantana! My google results are soooo much nicer than a fat dude.

You do need to go. Ferreal. It's such a YOU place. It's too bad Susan lives in So.Cal, cause you could totally use visiting her as an excuse. But! One day there's going to be a high-speed railway that links San Francisco to San Diego, so you can totally go then (the house is in San Jose, about 45 min-an hour away from San Francisco).

The door to nowhere is probably my second favorite feature, second to the staircase to the ceiling, which I totally could have gotten a picture of if I'd thought of it at the time. The tour woman left us at that point so people could walk up the stairs if they wanted, and there's a curve that hides you from view... but I didn't think of it until long after we'd passed that part.

I wanted to take ALL the pictures!

That's a good point about the bees. Huh. *thoughtful grunt*

V. and me once visited the house and took the tour. :-) It was so much fun, and also quite creepy. :-) :-)

It is a lot of fun. I just wish you could like, explore on your own. And take pictures!

Haz a jellus!!! I've wanted to visit the Winchester house since I was a kid. I had this big book of mysteries and oddities, and it fascinated me.

Also, strong case for not listening to mediums. XD

I know right? But then again, she didn't have anything else to do with her money (they said her fortune worked out to something like a thousand dollars a day). Why not build a gigantic mazehouse? If I had that much money, that's what I'd do! :D

I'd been once before, for like... my tenth or eleventh birthday or something, and I totally did not appreciate it properly then (which is why I wanted to go this time when my cousin asked me what I wanted to do). It really is an amazing place and a fascinating story.

I'm so jealous (and happy!) that you got to see this house! I have always wanted to see it and been fascinated by the story.

It is a really fascinating story. I went once when I was a kid, but I didn't realize how much I loved the story and the house until visiting as an adult.

Kind of like touring Glensheen Mansion! I didn't realize how cool it all was until I was much older.

Is that the one in... Stillwater? Duluth?
