I wanted to say that I loved this! I thought it was fascinating how you wove your fic into the movie canon. And that you made Riptide mute. It was a nice blending of imagination with canon. Thanks for writing it.

Today I will update the master list of Azazel/Riptide fics over on azazel_riptide to include yours. Here's the link:

Thank you so much! This really came from watching the movie twice in one week and spending the second time watching exactly what Riptide was doing and sorta running with it. I really was expecting this to be, 2 or 3 pages. It turned out to be 13. So I'm really glad that it worked and you liked it!

Oooooh, yay! I actually have that masterlist bookmarked so it's pretty cool to see myself on there too. XD

I love the characterizations you have here. Not just Riptide and even Azazel, but I love what you've done with Emma. The way you incorporated her backstory from the comics and also showed the waning of her affections for Shaw was interesting. The fact that she could get a lock on Azazel when he was around Riptide made me smile, the idea that Azazel was tied to one place solidly enough at that point.

Riptide himself was absolutely fascinating. I know how much of a joy you had with writing a mute character, but you pulled it off. And you pulled it off well. A man trapped to himself, but constantly in contact with others around him. And I am more than a little in love with his love of the ocean. Well done m'dear.

Thank you so much! *Bows* I did actually really enjoy how Emma showed up in this one as well. I knew she was going to work when she gave me a line about fussing with her hair while still looking like a predator.

I had no idea about the solid thing until it showed up in her lines. It also explains how Charles got a lock on him though, since he was in the same room as Riptide at that point. Plus, if you're going to give Azazel the whole "Hundreds of years old demon" back story, I feel like to write him in a romance at that point you have to give some indication there's something more going on, something to keep him tied down or it's going to be a really short romance.

It was a good stretch of my writing muscles to write a mute? XD We'll go with that. He got frustrated too, feeling like he couldn't communicate. Yes, he loves the ocean. He's keeping that in Pain and Anger. It's why when Colorado was suggested he just about had a heart attack and started listing off any warmish coast area that had mountains. XD He's like no, ocean!

I don't know who most of these people are because I haven't seen the new movie yet or read the comics, but I really enjoyed this anyway. :) Your writing has really matured since I first met you...almost four years ago now? (wow.) You rock!!

Thank you so much! Actually reading a fic from somewhere you're not familiar with and liking it seems like an even higher sort of compliment.

((Besides, these were such minor characters in the film...XD))

Thank you! Especially about the maturing bit. XD That's also lovely to hear.
