1koolspud gave me a great book for x-mess (iWoz: From Computer Geek to Cult Icon: How I Invented the Personal Computer, Co-Founded Apple, and Had Fun Doing It). I've just finished reading it, and found it really interesting. I had an earlier biography of his (it was even signed), but it really skimped on the details. For the past few years I've been developing stuff pretty much by myself at work, and have missed working on a team. This book made me think I should simply enjoy developing on my own a little more.

Have you read Accidental Empires? It's this half-sarcastic analysis of the first decade and a half of the home computer industry, written by Bob Cringely, the guy who used to be Infoworld's gossip columnist. (It was the basis of the two Nerds documentaries that ran on PBS in the mid-nineties.)

There's this one part, I think he's discussing the guy who invented the "software architect" concept for Microsoft, where Cringley expresses the opinion that most software projects are best if they're written by one person, and that projects written by large teams are more likely to suck.
