Last week I looked down from our deck and saw large bright green and red colors flashing in our yard. Two (probably a mating pair) of beautiful Red-Masked Parakeets pigging out on one of the bird feeders.
I once caught...evilmommytinaJuly 17 2008, 02:58:41 UTC
a beautiful lilac crowned amazon parrot who frequented my backyard by placing parrot food inside a cage - rigged to close when she went in. I did this for two reasons.
1. her toenails were so long they were digging into her own flesh and I knew I could fix them.
2. my outdoor cat almost brought her down in mid-flight more than once thinking her a lovely snack.
I sent her off to a breeding facility... with lovely free-flight aviaries... where she, no doubt, is still loving her new mate.
Though I have yet to see them. The lower east side has many gardens but most of what wakes me up in the mornings is the pigeons cooing on my air conditioner.
