Book binge 2009

I saw New Moon with Jackie and her roommate last night, and I have surprisingly very little to say about it. It’s everything the book is, which is melodramatic and full of emo angst (and with pretty-sounding emo/alternative soundtrack). So it’s quite faithful-and safe. But my opinion of this movie is pretty much summarized by this hilarious Read more... )

Great selection of books for this week! Prep was really good, but I felt a little let down with the protagonist at the end. I would love to know what you eventually think of it. :)

You remind me that I need to read more Dickens!

Lee lets me down every other chapter! Okay that's exaggerating, but she's one of those characters that make it difficult to like them. But then I have to hold back my dislike because hey, I remember high school, and its endless insecurities...

That's the catch-22 of the book! She's not very likable, but you *know* the author captured high school well. And then, you want to keep reading to see what happens...

I'm about halfway through Bleak House. I took a break in September and keep meaning to get back to it...

I want to read Boneshaker as well.

Sunshine is okay. The main character goes on and on about cinnamon rolls, though. It's fun enough but nothing extraordinary.

I thought Sunshine petered to an end. It didn't have a definitive "she's with this one or with that guy" ending. Maybe that was McKinley's intention, buuut it lacked punch to me, when I read it a year ago.

That's why I'm trying to finish Bleak House now! If I leave it to the wayside...who knows when I'll muster the willpower to get back into it!!
