I saw New Moon with Jackie and her roommate last night, and I have surprisingly very little to say about it. It’s everything the book is, which is melodramatic and full of emo angst (and with pretty-sounding emo/alternative soundtrack). So it’s quite faithful-and safe. You know what's frustrating me?

I can't seem to be able to read properly anymore.  Adjusting to work life has made my brain always on multi-task mode.  I can't finish a page without my mind wandering to what I have to do still.

This stinks!!

It's like eating and not enjoying what you eat.  This is terrible.

I got my voting registration information in the mail today, woot.  For the first time since I became of legal age, I will be going in person to vote.  I don't consider my vote in the 2004 election the real thing, because a) it was an absentee ballot and b) Bush still got elected.  I still remember looking miserably at that cartoon of North America ( Read more... )

I don’t think I ask much from my books.  I need dynamic, meaty characters-people whose voices don’t leave your head even if you put down the page.  Then I need juicy, page-turning drama that complicates those characters’ lives, making it hard for them to get what they want or to realize what they truly need.  Above all, I need the author to make me ( Read more... )
