There are ship wars? I must have missed it so far. Although one or two of my LJ friends have been moaning about A/G but I do defend the pairing, even though it's not my favorite. There should be room for all the pairings, even Uther/Gauis.

I wouldn't say there are all out wars yet, but the first step toward them is a STRONG DIVISION OF PREFERENCE. Followed by whiny comments on how oooo it's so not far that they're not pandering to ussss. And then cat fights happen.

I just don't like seeing it. :-/

I defend them too, because they're adorable and flustered and kinda sweet in a 'oh BBC, I love that you had to thrust boobies in Arthur's face for him to notice' type of way.

I honestly don't see why they have to whine about it. My biggest problem is characterization. If the characters suddenly start acting weirdly (cough* Arthur), then I have a problem but I had a problem with his behavior in a lot of this last episode, not just with Gwen.

The problem with the Merlin fandom is they forget that Arthur and Gwen is the original canon and they're pissed at the idea of them getting together. Granted, it's going to be interesting to see how the series pulls it out of their butt.

I don't think they've forgotten so much as wish to pretend they could have forgotten.

However the BBC does it. It's going to be hysterical and facepalm worthy, like much of the rest of the show. Obviously.

Speaking of A/G and M/A . . . *squints* I THINK I saw ship-discussing posts yesterday, at merlinxarthur and merlin_tv, but I can no longer find them. Am I blind, crazy, delusional or are those posts gone?

It's not there any more. It's listed in the bbc_news thing but when I went to click on it, it was gone.

It's really too bad we can't discuss the various pairings without someone going wacko. I mean the A/G pairing is fine but I wish they would go slower in the series. Doesn't mean that I'm dead set against it. I just think romance takes time. Any romance no matter what the pairing. But I noticed in that thread it was getting heated due to one person going all weird about it.

So it did get wanky. Damn it, Merlin fandom, you were doing so well. A/G didn't even start properly.

The post was fine. We were talking about whether the A/G romance was going too fast or not fast enough and some of the things for the S201 episode. The originator had one sentence about not really wanting the storyline of A/G but knowing it was going to happen anyway but it was a throwaway line and the whole long post was really about pacing.

But one person got on their high horse and was highly offended about the whole thing and how everything was perfect for A/G and the pacing was perfect and how offended they were about the throwaway line. I don't know what happened after that but she was getting pretty snarky when I went to bed. The post was gone the next morning.

Sigh.

I think I beat you in the being lousy as a fest participant. Being unemployed last year turned me into a mod's worst nightmare, alas. So feel pride in being less crap than me, at least! :D :D :D

...Did you eventually turn in your fics? Cause if your answer is yes, then I'm still worse than you are. By, oh, a lot.

It's only 17 credits, which sounds like nothing, but this school is HUGE about making sure their students are actually doing the correct amount of course work for those credit hours. So dumb. D: It's only five classes. I know people with far more than that, but it hasn't done good things for me yet.

(Aren't they though? But even then they're still adorably squishable and that's mostly the fault of Bradley and Angel. Their height difference alone makes me oddly agreeable to the pairing. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW MY BRAIN WORKS. o.o)
