How do I mount a partition in Ubuntu?

I need a simple, easy to understand explanation of how to mount a Windows formatted partition in Ubuntu.

You see, a couple years ago I tried installing Ubuntu on my home PC. Didn't realize the external 2 TB drive, Sahn-Kusahn1 (formerly Alexandria), was plugged in. Didn't notice the program was trying to install Ubuntu on the 2 TB drive at first; ( Read more... )

Fay, *mounting* a partition is easy. Go to the command line and type "mount [name]"

The problem is how to find out what the name *is*. Probably /dev/something. but finding that "something" is the "hard" part. Getting a list of partitions is probably easy as well. I just don't know how.

I looked up, copied, and saved the info for how to list partitions. I shall try it when I get home.
